Compensation: $120,000–$130,000 base salary + bonus potential

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager – Property Accounting to oversee financial operations for a portfolio of multifamily properties. This role manages a team of Property Accountants and partners closely with operations and senior leadership to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting.

The ideal candidate brings deep property management accounting experience within multifamily housing environments and is comfortable leading a team while managing multiple deadlines across a portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions for a portfolio of multifamily properties
  • Review and approve monthly financial statements, bank reconciliations, and cash activity
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for third-party stakeholders regarding financial reporting and related matters
  • Oversee financial transitions for property acquisitions and dispositions
  • Partner with operations on annual budgets, reforecasts, funding requests, and financial statement preparation
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Property Accountants, including performance management and development
  • Support monthly, year-end, and audit requirements in collaboration with senior leadership
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines across various property management systems

Qualifications (Non-Negotiable Requirements):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 5–7+ years of property management accounting experience within multifamily housing
  • Experience supporting affordable housing portfolios
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing Property Accountants
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience managing a portfolio of multifamily properties (corporate or development-only accounting experience will not be considered)
  • Ability to operate independently in a deadline-driven environment
