Job summary

TruCapital Partners is seeking a Property Accountant to support the accounting operations of our commercial real estate firm in San Diego. This position is responsible for handling daily accounting tasks, preparing financial statements, and ensuring accurate reporting and compliance.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Accounting/Finance, 2-3 years of experience, and proficiency in accrual accounting. Strong Excel skills and familiarity with property accounting software (Yardi) are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in the commercial real estate industry.

We are currently recruiting for a Property Accountant to join one of the leading commercial real estate investment firms in the San Diego area. This role will partner with a dynamic team in the day to day accounting operations.

Responsibilities

• Handle day‑to‑day accounting for a property portfolio, including payables, cash activity, journal entries, and monthly reporting.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and internal reports using accrual accounting.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and supporting schedules.
• Manage tenant ledger activity, refunds, adjustments, and payables processing.
• Maintain fixed asset and depreciation records.
• Prepare funding requests and recurring reporting for financial partners.
• Assist with budgets, owner distributions, tax/insurance tracking, and compliance.
• Support property management teams and assist with special projects as needed.

Requirements

• Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience.
• 2–3 years of accounting experience, ideally in real estate or property management.
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting and proficiency with property accounting software (Yardi preferred).
• Strong Excel skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Experience with in the commercial real estate industry.
