Job summary

Flaherty & Collins Properties is seeking a Property Accountant to join our Indianapolis corporate team. You will handle financial reporting, ledgers, and vendor/payable workflows for on-site properties, delivering accuracy and insights.

You will work with property managers to address inquiries, assist with budgets and forecasts, and support audits while identifying process improvements to drive efficiency. A strong foundation in accounting is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business is required.
  • 3+ years of property or general accounting experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Excel is expected.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements for assigned properties.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, ledgers, and balance sheets regularly.
  • Assist with budget preparation, variance analysis, and forecasting.
  • Process journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable for properties.
  • Collaborate with property managers and assist audits and controls.

Property Accountant

Do you have a passion for numbers and financial analysis? Are you looking for an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team while honing your accounting skills? As a Property Accountant, you'll be at the heart of our financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting and contributing to the success of our properties. You will serve as the first point of contact for on-site teams and be responsible for delivering administrative and technical accounting support to the Property Management team. In this role, you will maintain financial reports, accounting records, and general ledgers, analyze budgets, perform bookkeeping, and handle property accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks.

What You’ll Do:
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements for assigned properties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company standards.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, ledgers, and balance sheets regularly.
  • Assist with budget preparation, variance analysis, and financial forecasting.
  • Process journal entries, accruals, and adjustments to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual reconciliations.
