Job summary

Western International Gas & Cylinders, Inc. seeks a Propane Service Technician to install, inspect, and repair propane systems at customer locations.

You will respond to service calls, perform safety checks, and maintain equipment, with on-call rotation including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Under Site Manager supervision, you will ensure compliance with regulations and deliver excellent customer service while maintaining safety and documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of propane, HVAC, mechanical, or related field service experience preferred.
• CDL with tanker and hazardous materials endorsements preferred (or ability to obtain).
• Propane Education and Research Council certification preferred or ability to obtain within designated timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Safely install, inspect, maintain, and repair propane tanks, piping systems, regulators, valves, and related equipment.
• Perform leak checks, pressure tests, and system inspections per procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot propane system issues including appliances and fuel delivery systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and codes at all times.
• Complete and submit service documentation and regulatory reports accurately and timely.
• Respond to emergency service calls and provide on-call support as scheduled.
• Communicate with management and customers about timelines, delays, safety concerns, and equipment needs.

Job description

Primary customers include residential homeowners,commercial businesses, agricultural operations, and various industrialaccounts. This position may require extended hours during peak seasons and emergencyservice situations. Set schedule with on-call rotation, including nights,weekends, and holidays as needed. The position is primarily local; however,candidates must be able to adjust to changes in schedules as operationalneeds arise.

Under the supervision of the Site Manager, thePropane Service Technician is responsible for the safe installation,maintenance, inspection, and repair of propane tanks, gas lines, regulators,and propane-powered equipment. This position ensures compliance with allfederal, state, and local regulations while delivering exceptional customerservice. Ultimately responsible for the safe handling and servicing ofliquefied petroleum gas (LP) systems at customer locations. This positionreports to the Site Manager.

EssentialFunctions

1. Safelyinstall, inspect, maintain, and repair propane tanks, piping systems,regulators, valves, and related equipment.

2. Performleak checks, pressure tests, and system inspections in accordance withcompany procedures and regulatory requirements.

3. Diagnoseand troubleshoot propane system issues, including appliances and fueldelivery systems.

4. Ensureall work complies with company safety policies as well as federal, state, andlocal codes and regulations.

5. Completeand submit all required service documentation, regulatory compliance reports,and company paperwork accurately and timely.

6. Respondto emergency service calls and provide on-call support as scheduled.

7. Communicateeffectively with management, and customers regarding service timelines,delays, safety concerns, and equipment needs.

8. Maintaincompany vehicle, tools, and equipment in safe working condition.

9. Developand maintain strong working relationships with customers.

10. Reportall accidents, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and near misses immediately.

11. Performcathodic protection testing of underground tanks.

13. Operatea propane bobtail and safely deliver propane to customers as needed.

14. Prepareexisting tanks for installation, including painting.

Knowledge,Skills and Abilities

• Minimum of two years of propane, HVAC,mechanical, or related field service experience preferred. Will train the right candidate.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record; CDL with tanker andhazardous materials endorsements preferred (or ability to obtain).
• Propane Education and Research Councils' PEP (formerly CETP) certificationpreferred or ability to obtain within designated timeframe. Will provide training to the rightcandidate.
• Strong knowledge of propane systems, NFPA codes, and safety regulationspreferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems and read technical diagrams andschematics.
• Ability to safely operate service vehicles and equipment.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment weighing 50+ pounds.
• Able to stand, kneel, bend, climb, and work in confined spaces asrequired.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations as needed.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
