Pico Propane and Fuels in Weslaco, TX is hiring a Propane (LP) Bobtail Driver to deliver propane to commercial and residential customers with safety and customer satisfaction as priorities. The role includes installing, repairing, and maintaining propane equipment while multitasking in a local business environment.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, CDL with hazmat/tanker endorsements, and TXRRC propane certification readiness. Strong communication and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Class A or B CDL with hazmat and tanker endorsements required.
• Propane (LP) certification highly preferred but not required.
• Ability to obtain TXRRC propane delivery certification within three months of employment (if not already certified)
• Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Load, secure, transport, and deliver propane to residential and commercial locations.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on equipment used for the transportation of hazardous materials.
• Maintain accurate logs of inspections, hours, product transported, and miles driven per DOT regulations.
• Maintain vehicle maintenance and report larger service needs to supervisor.
• Uphold company representation standards and equipment presentation.
• Assist with installation, repair, and maintenance of propane/fuel equipment.
• Adhere to all city, state, and federal regulations.
• May require evenings/weekends as needed.

Job Summary

The Propane (LP) Bobtail Driver will play a crucial role in providing propane deliveries to our commercial and residential customers in a safe and efficient manner, with a key focus on customer satisfaction. In addition to fuel delivery, this unique opportunity will also include responsibilities with the installation, repair, and maintenance of propane/fuel equipment. To ensure success, one must have a willingness to multitask, a passion for customer service and the aspiration to be involved with building a local business. This will require excellent communication skills, a positive attitude in the face of challenges and the ability to execute on identified solutions. Above all else, personal safety and the safety of our customers must take on the highest priority. This position will support our Pico Propane and Fuels location in Weslaco, TX.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Complies with all city, state, and federal regulations
• Loads, secures, transports, and delivers propane to residential and commercial locations
• Performs pre and post-trip inspections on equipment used for the transportation of hazardous materials
• Maintains and completes accurate records by documenting truck inspections, hours of service, product transported, and miles driven in compliance with all DOT regulations
• Maintains the operational efficiency of vehicles by monitoring truck maintenance needs, conducting minor repairs and conducting daily DOT truck inspections to ensure maximum vehicle safety
• Ensures that delivery vehicle receives service according to maintenance schedule; reports larger service needs and mechanical issues to supervisor
• Upholds excellent company representation standards and equipment presentation
• Works to exceed customer expectations through effective communication and service
• Ensures customer safety through prefill inspections, awareness and system testing, as required
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Proven work experience as a Fuel Delivery Driver (highly preferred)
• Advanced knowledge of propane and refined fuel systems (preferred)
• Ability to obtain a TXRRC propane delivery certification within three (3) months of employment (if not already certified - required)
• Willingness to learn and grow

• Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite

Education, Certification, Licenses Required

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Class A or B CDL license with hazmat and tanker endorsements required

• Ability to effectively and efficiently use navigation tools such as GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web-based or physical maps
• Ability to maintain accurate driving and service logs and records
• Ability to carry out a series of instructions with limited supervision
• Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
• Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

• Position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of 10 to 100 lbs. for approximately 90% of the work shift
• Ability to regularly climb in and out of a commercial motor vehicle, multiple times per work shift
• Good hand eye coordination, arm hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and visual acuity to operate equipment is required, including at night
• Frequent sitting, reaching with hands and arms
• Must be able to speak and hear
• Position is subject to pre-hire DOT medical certification requirements and drug and/or alcohol testing, as well as a physical abilities test performed by a company provider
• Must pass pre-employment screening and background check
• Position may require working evening hours and weekends as needed
• Work is normally performed outside where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes and gases is common. airborne particles
