This position is responsible for loading, transporting and delivering propane to our residential and commercial customers using a bobtail truck (3,000-5,000-gallon capacity).Duties/Responsibilities:Delivers cylinders of various sizes and picks up empty cylindersDelivered to all customers on a flatbed truck that may be equipped with a lift gate to assist with loading and unloading cylindersPerforms all daily functions in a safe manner by adhering to all federal and state codes and regulations, in addition to all safety and operations policies and procedures while utilizing all personal protective equipment (PPE)Complies with all city, state, and federal regulationsLoads, secures, transports, and delivers propane to residential and commercial locationsProvides a high level of service to customersPerforms pre- and post-trip inspections on equipment used for the transportation of hazardous materialsMaintains and completes accurate records by documenting truck inspections, hours of service, product transported, and miles driven in compliance with all DOT regulationsMaintains the operational efficiency of vehicles by monitoring truck maintenance needs, conducting minor repairs and conducting daily DOT truck inspections to ensure maximum vehicle safetyEnsures that delivery vehicle receives service according to maintenance schedule; reports larger service needs and mechanical issues to supervisorApplies a thorough understanding of the technical concepts, practices and procedures and a general knowledge of industry standards and government regulations related to testing and transporting bulk petroleum products to pipeline injection pointsPerforms other related duties as assignedThe absence of specific statements of duties does not exclude those tasks from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment of the position.Required Skills/Abilities:Proven work experience as a licensed Service TechnicianAdvanced knowledge of propane (LP) systems (highly preferred)Willingness to learn and growAbility to solve problems and repair equipment on siteAbility to use a GPS to navigate to customer locationsCustomer service orientedEducation, Certification, Licenses Required:High school diploma or equivalentCDLMust have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving recordHazmat and Tankers endorsements (preferred but not required)Propane & Natural Gas Technician Certification: Delivery, Tank Setters, Appliance Connection & Service TechnicianPhysical, Mental, and Behavioral Requirements:The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by the incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of 10 to 100 lbs. for approximately 90% of the work shiftAbility to regularly climb in and out of a service motor vehicle, multiple times per work shiftGood hand eye coordination, arm hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and visual acuity to operate equipment is required, including at nightFrequent sitting, reaching with hands and armsMust be able to speak and hearPosition is subject to pre-hire DOT medical certification requirements and drug and/or alcohol testing, as well as a physical abilities test performed by a company providerMust pass pre-employment screening and background checkPosition may require working evening hours and weekends as neededWork is normally performed outside where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes, airborne particles and gases is commonThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work that is expected to be performed.
