Ascend Wellness Holdings in New Jersey seeks a Technician - Cultivation Propagation to support cannabis plant propagation. You will care for mother plants, propagate clones, monitor health, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards in a cultivation environment.
Daily tasks include nutrient management, sanitation, and record-keeping while complying with local regulations. Shift Tue-Sat 6:15am–2:30pm; base pay $20/hour.
Description
The Technician - Cultivation Propagation reports directly to the Propagation Cultivation Manager and is responsible for supporting the health, quality, and productivity of cannabis plants during the propagation stage. This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining mother plants, producing and caring for clones, supporting early plant development, and preparing plants for transfer to the next cultivation phase. The Technician - Cultivation Propagationperforms daily plant care, monitoring, and sanitation activities to promote healthy growth while ensuring compliance with company procedures, quality standards, and applicable regulatory requirements. Work is performed in a cultivation environment with regular exposure to cannabis plants, cannabis-related odors, pollen, dust, and varying temperatures, humidity levels, and lighting conditions typical of commercial cultivation operations.

· Plant Biology Knowledge : Understand cannabis plant anatomy, physiology, and growth cycles
· Mother Stock Maintenance : Perform defoliation, pruning, cutting/irrigating clones and staking techniques to optimize light penetration, airflow throughout the propagation cycle
· Canopy Management : Perform defoliation, pruning, trellising, and staking techniques to optimize light penetration, airflow, and bud quality throughout the flowering cycle
· Plant Health Maintenance : Monitor cannabis plants during the propagation stage to support optimal bud development, plant vitality, and overall crop quality
· Monitoring Plant Health: Observe and assess plant conditions daily for signs of stress, disease, pests, or nutrient deficiencies, and report findings to the Cultivation Lead
· Nutrient Management: Apply appropriate nutrient solutions based on growth stage and plant requirements
· Sanitation Practices: Maintain sterile workspaces and tools to prevent contamination and disease transmission
· Record Keeping: Accurately document propagation methods, growth stages, and environmental conditions for compliance and quality control
· Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all local, state, and federal cannabis cultivation regulations
· Cloning Techniques: Execute precise cutting and propagation practices using rooting hormones and established cloning methods to propagate new plants
· Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned
· Must be 21 years of age or older
· Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a State Registered Agent Card
· Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent
· Comfortable working in environments with high humidity, strong plant odors, and fluctuating temperatures
· Ability to work safely at elevated heights, including climbing ladders and using hand tools as needed
· Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and to follow sanitation and safety standards
· 1+ years of experience in commercial cultivation or commensurate experience
· Strong knowledge of plant biology and flowering cycles
· Excellent organizational and communication skills
· Ability to take initiative and exercise sound judgment
