Job summary

Ascend Wellness Holdings (AWH) seeks a Cultivation Manager to lead cultivation from seed to harvest, ensuring compliance with state regulations and company policies. You will plan production, schedule harvests, and guide staffing while maintaining inventory and quality controls.

The role requires deep cannabis cultivation knowledge, data-driven decision making, and strong leadership to train and coach cultivation staff toward meeting yield and compliance targets in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Botany, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years in a large-scale commercial greenhouse operation with 2+ years in management.
• Experience in multi-tiered growing environments and hydroponics.
• Knowledge of pest and disease management and nutrient systems.
• Ability to obtain Registered Agent Card and comply with cannabis laws.

Responsibilities

• Develop a detailed cultivation plan from seed to harvest.
• Manage harvest schedule to meet business demand.

• Support employee performance reviews for cultivation staff.
• Track inventory and maintain supplies in reasonable quantities.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The Cultivation Manager is responsible for successful cultivation activities from seed/clone through harvest, following company policies and procedures and in compliance with state regulations

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES

• Responsible for the grow operations, including developing a detailed plan and timeline for plant production from seed/clone to harvest
• Initiates and manages a harvest schedule to consistently meet the demands of the business
• Assist in creating cultivation staffing schedules based on projected labor demand
• Support the employee review process for cultivation personnel
• Tracks consumable inventory levels and ensures that adequate supplies are available in reasonable quantities
• Ensures that the growing environment is clean, properly always equipped and in good working order
• Produces a product that meets all lab testing requirements at targeted yield levels with the expected amounts of active pharmaceutical ingredients
• Clearly sets out a vision for success and educates cultivation members on how their actions and accomplishments contribute to the overall success of the company
• Establishes and enforces standards of accountability for cultivation staff
• Completes regularly scheduled quality assessment of plants for signs of pests/disease

Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000

Other Responsibilities

• Ensure staff is trained and follows appropriate SOP's
• Ensure that all requisite information is maintained in the state required system and site records are up to date
• Coach and develop the Cultivation Technicians, provide constant developmental feedback

Minimum Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Botany, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years' experience in a large-scale commercial growing operation in a greenhouse environment, with 2+ years at the management level operations
• Experience in multi-tiered growing environments.
• Experience with growing data acquisition
• Experience designing nutrient mixes
• Knows automated environmental control systems
• Advanced understanding of horticulture practices including cloning plants
• Ability to identify and remedy plant disease states
• Can identify and remedy suboptimal nutrient states
• Detailed knowledge of indoor hydroponic cultivation practices, life cycle of cannabis, common pests of cannabis and compliance
• Must be 21 years or older and pass all required pre-employment screenings
• Full knowledge of all applicable laws, regulations, and requirements to always keep the facility at 100% compliance, this includes being up to date on any changes to current applicable laws/regulations
• Must be and remain compliant with all regulatory requirements for working in the cannabis industry
• Must be able to obtain and retain a Registered Agent Card issued by the state of operation
• Must have excellent organization and time management skills
• Must be focused, pay close attention to detail
• Must be able to internalize training and follow instructions
• Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively
