Role description:

Arcadis is looking for a Stormwater Engineer with 5 or more years of experience to join our growing team in Chicago or Milwaukee. Collaborating with our experienced Water Professionals, you will support and drive development of stormwater projects, interact and work with clients, and develop your technical capabilities. Arcadis provides multiple onboarding and development programs created for our young professionals that support professional growth and help drive creativeness, innovation, and greater integration within our local, national, and global teams.

This role sits within our global business area Resilience. We work to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations. Around the world, we’re feeling the effects of climate change, rapid urbanization, and loss of biodiversity. The rate at which we’re seeing large-scale, unforeseen events such as floods and wildfires is becoming more frequent. We are here to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations.

Role accountabilities:

The candidate in this role will evaluate, plan, design, permit and support management of projects for stormwater treatment and conveyance (pipelines, treatment, and pumping facilities). In addition, this role may support professional engineering services during construction: construction observation, review of shop drawings, responses to request for information (RFIs) and permit closeouts.

Additional responsibilities will include:

  1. Perform, set up, assemble data, and coordinate resources to complete hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and calculations for stormwater linear design, watershed models, natural systems and dams, and act as a stormwater resource for teams across the region and country.
  2. Support sustainability and resilience projects with stormwater modeling, planning and design.
  3. Support preparation of reports, presentations, and other audio-visual materials, and participate in client meetings.
  4. Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality, health, and safety standards, and facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of projects on time and budget.
  5. Work independently and as part of a team, with the flexibility to accommodate collaboration with team members across the country.
  6. Learn/use digital tools to enhance customer experience, team and client collaboration, and project delivery including configuration and deployment of SharePoint, Building Information Modeling (BIM), Power BI, and Augmented Reality.
  7. Travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning purposes or to oversee construction activities, depending on project staffing needs.
Required Qualifications
  1. 5 or more years of relevant experience.
  2. Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or a related field of study.
  3. EIT Certification or Professional Engineering (PE) License.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience in design or consulting engineering or Municipal work environment.
  2. Project leadership experience including managing overall project delivery expectations, prioritizing tasks, and mentoring.
  3. Prior construction observation experience.
  4. Client management experience, including preparation and development of proposals and client relationship building.
  5. Experience/training with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  6. Master of Science/Engineering in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or a related field of study.
