Job summary

Pacific Life's Project Technical Lead, Workflow Automation & Integration, partners with stakeholders, architects, product owners, and engineering teams to deliver automation, integrations, and digital transformation across Workforce Benefits.

This individual contributor role leads complex projects through requirements, design, implementation, testing, and production support, driving efficiency and AI-enabled capabilities across the tech stack.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of technical project leadership, workflow automation, integration, or software delivery.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technology initiatives as an individual contributor.
  • Experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting business, functional, and technical requirements.
  • Experience with MuleSoft, Appian, REST APIs, file-based integrations, microservices, and event-driven solutions.
  • Strong understanding of workflow management, process automation, and system integration concepts.
  • Experience working across multiple layers of the technology stack, including APIs, application services, databases, and integration platforms.
  • Experience supporting Agile or Scaled Agile teams and delivery methodologies.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead workflow automation, integration, and digital transformation projects.
  • Partner with stakeholders to analyze current and future processes and identify opportunities to streamline workflows.
  • Serve as the technical lead for initiatives involving workflow management, APIs, system integrations, automation platforms, and AI-enabled solutions.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications, process flows, API requirements, and data mapping documentation.
  • Collaborate with solution architects, Full-Stack Developers, and enterprise technology teams to design scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
  • Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, system design, development support, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including process flows, sequence diagrams, system specifications, API documentation, source-to-target mappings, operational procedures, and support documentation.
  • Partner with Product Owners and Scrum Masters within a Scaled Agile environment to refine backlogs, define acceptance criteria, and establish measurable outcomes.
  • Support Quality Assurance activities by defining business scenarios, testing requirements, and end-to-end validation criteria.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance across project teams while influencing solution decisions and ensuring alignment with architecture and development standards.
  • Serve as an escalation point for workflow, integration, and production support issues and lead root cause analysis efforts.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, automation tools, and AI solutions to improve business processes and delivery effectiveness.
  • Establish and measure KPIs and business outcomes related to automation, operational efficiency, quality, and customer experience.

The Project Technical Lead, Workflow Automation & Integration partners with business stakeholders, architects, product owners, and engineering teams to deliver workflow automation, integration, and digital transformation solutions across the Workforce Benefits Division.


This individual contributor role serves as the technical lead for complex projects, providing leadership throughout the solution lifecycle from requirements gathering and solution design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support. The role is responsible for identifying opportunities to automate business processes, improve operational efficiency, and enable a highly connected technology ecosystem through workflow orchestration, APIs, integrations, and AI-enabled capabilities.


This role collaborates across all layers of the technology stack, including user interfaces, application services, databases, APIs, integrations, and supporting infrastructure. The ideal candidate combines strong business analysis skills with technical expertise to translate business objectives into scalable and secure technology solutions that drive measurable business outcomes.


This role will be located in one of our offices either in Newport Beach, CA, Charlotte, NC or Omaha, NE.


How you will help move us forward


  • Lead workflow automation, integration, and digital transformation projects supporting Workforce Benefits business capabilities.

  • Partner with business stakeholders to analyze current and future business processes and identify opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve customer and operational outcomes.

  • Serve as the technical lead for initiatives involving workflow management, APIs, system integrations, automation platforms, and AI-enabled solutions.

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.


$167,670.00 - $204,930.00
