Job summary

Hitachi Energy USA INC is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to manage Secondary Engineering (Control & Protection) for AIS and GIS substations from 69kV to 765kV. You will lead protection design, develop schematics, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams through design, construction, and commissioning.

You will ensure adherence to NERC, NEC, and IEEE standards while delivering cost-effective, reliable protection solutions. Travel up to 20% may be required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in electromechanical engineering.
  • Experience developing protection single-line diagrams, protection philosophies, architectures, and AC/DC schematic designs for substation applications.
  • Knowledge of substation protection relays, relay configuration, load flow studies, short circuit studies, arc flash studies, protection settings, CT/VT sizing, and transmission relay loadability studies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Secondary Engineering (Control & Protection) across AIS/GIS projects from concept to commissioning.
  • Develop protection philosophies, SLDs, and communication architectures for substations.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external partners for on-time project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, ANSI/IEEE standards and NERC requirements.
