Job summary

CEI Engineering Associates is seeking a full-time Project Surveyor in Dallas, TX to lead field and office surveying efforts, manage budgets, and coordinate multi-project work. The role requires Texas licensure and a strong background in field crew supervision, staking, and quality data handling.

As a core member of our civil engineering team, you will train staff, oversee project scopes, and ensure compliance with local regulations while delivering accurate legal descriptions and survey products

Qualifications

  • Licensed Land Surveyor in Texas.
  • Bachelor's or higher; 3+ years related experience and/or training, and 19–23 months related management experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Manage field and office surveying projects, including staking and stake marking.
  • Coordinate and supervise field work; oversee budgets and client relations.
  • Verify data accuracy and prepare complete, valuable survey products.
  • Communicate with Survey Party Chief on scheduling and project scope.

The compensation range provided is specific to the geographic market of the posted position. If hired as a remote employee, your salary will be aligned with the applicable compensation range for your primary remote work location.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of, and familiarity with, client contacts, dealing with the public and governmental agencies, field crew management, scheduling, equipment, and supplies management.
  • Performs basic budgeting and cost control techniques.
  • Trains personnel in all aspects of field and/or office surveying practices.
  • Coordinates and supervises field work including staking and stake marking for a variety of standard types of surveys.
  • Maintains general familiarity with local and state land use regulations as they relate to lot site developments.
  • Manages and coordinates projects for one or more CEI clients. Duties may include coordinating, permitting, budget, and client relationship management by performing duties personally or through subordinate managers.
  • Verifies the accuracy of data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites. Ensures the preparation of accurate, compete, and value-added work products and performs complex survey computations.
  • Writes descriptions of property boundary survey for use in deeds, leases, and other legal documents. Analyzes and writes legal descriptions. Interprets design plans for construction staking calculations.
  • Communicates with Survey Party Chief about scheduling or projects and provides direction to field crews regarding project scopes.
  • Participates in a manner that minimizes competition between peers or business units of the company, of which results in decisions that are best for the company, its clients, and its employees as a whole.
  • Accurately analyzes and administers assigned departmental and operating accounts, including critically reviewing budgetary data, verifying figures, developing budget proposals, recommending allocation of dollars to programs, service or departments, and studying all factors in order to determine a financial solution or outcome.
  • Develops, prepares, administers, oversees, and controls multi-project budgets.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Licensed Land Surveyor in the state of Texas
  • Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Equivalent to a four-year college degree, plus 3 years related experience and/or training, and 19 to 23 months related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
