Job summary

LJA, Inc. in Melbourne, FL, is seeking a Project Survey Tech to measure land features, property boundaries, elevations, utilities, roadways, and construction layouts. This role blends field and office data analysis to support a broad client base.

You will gain hands-on experience toward project management, prepare boundary descriptions, gather topo data, and stake projects using engineering plans. Strong communication and CAD skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years CADD experience required.
• Experience with government/regulatory agencies is a plus.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.

• Begin knowledge to move into project management roles.
• Prepares metes and bounds descriptions for boundary surveying projects, exhibits and various mapping products.
• Gathers data used for creation of topographical maps.
• Compiles information necessary to stake projects for construction using engineering plans.
• Compares survey computations with applicable standards in order to determine adequacy of data.
• Collects information needed to carry out new surveys, using source maps, previous survey data, photographs, computer records and other relevant information.
• Responsible for boundary survey calculations analysis and final map checking, abstracting title data and client relations.

POSITION OVERVIEW: As a Project Survey Tech at LJA Inc, you will be responsible for measuring land features, property boundaries, elevations, utilities, roadways, and construction layouts. Performs a combination of field and office duties to gather and analyze geographic and site data.

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:

• Begin building knowledge and skills required to move into project management job roles.
• Prepares metes and bounds descriptions for boundary surveying projects, exhibits and various mapping products.
• Gathers data used for creation of topographical maps.
• Compiles information necessary to stake projects for construction using engineering plans.
• Compares survey computations with applicable standards in order to determine adequacy of data.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

• BS degree (completed or in progress) in surveying, mapping, photogrammetry, or other qualified major, from an ABET accredited college or university.
• Surveyor-in-Training certification relevant state board,

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3 – 5+ years CADD experience is required
• Experience working with government/regulatory agencies is a plus
• Solid proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
• Strong communication skills both oral and written
• Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients
