Job summary

Mannik Smith Group is seeking an experienced Project Survey Manager to join our Reno, NV team. This role will manage survey projects within the Survey/Geomatics department, oversee field crews, and ensure accurate data collection and deliverables for water resources and land development projects.

The ideal candidate holds a Professional Land Surveyor license, with 6+ years in land surveying, and strong skills in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Trimble.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of land surveying experience.
• Proven ability to analyze survey data accurately.
• Strong understanding of surveying principles and legal requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare survey proposals and manage budgets.
• Lead field survey crews on boundary, topographic, construction, and control surveys.
• Maintain staff schedules and deliverables; ensure accuracy of work products.
• Perform construction staking calculations and review crew work.
• Interpret design plans and coordinate with engineers for proper staking.
• Analyze title reports and legal descriptions; prepare maps and plats.
• Collaborate with project team to ensure drawings are complete and accurate.

With offices in Minden and Reno, Nevada, we are well placed to serve our clients with Water and Wastewater Infrastructure, Grant Opportunities, Planning, Surveying, Site Development, Hydrology/Hydraulics, Landscape Architecture, Residential Design, Water Resources, Expert Testimony, Hazard Mitigation Planning, and Roadway Maintenance & Design. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Project Survey Manager to join our growing team in Reno, Nevada.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Preparing survey proposals and managing budgets.
• Leads and manages field survey crews on various projects including boundary, topographic, construction, and control surveys.
• Maintains staff schedules and deliverables.
• Prepares accurate, complete, and value-added work products and perform complex survey computations.
• Perform construction staking calculations.
• Analyze and review work of survey crews and technicians.
• Responsible for reducing field data utilizing field codes and stringing (field to office data collection).
• Prepares cut sheets.
• Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members.
• Interpret design plans for construction staking calculations and coordinates with engineering staff to ensure proper interpretation.
• Analyzes title reports and legal descriptions along with necessary map and deed research.
• Leads boundary analysis.
• Prepares plats and legal descriptions.
• Prepares Tentative Maps, Parcel Maps, Final Maps, Record of Survey and ALTA Maps.
• Works closely with Director of Surveying, Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers to obtain project information and ensure drawings are accurate and complete.

Requirements

• Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license
• Proven experience in land surveying, with 6+ years of relevant work experience
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Trimble
• Strong data analysis skills for interpreting survey data accurately
• Strong understanding of surveying principles, methods, and legal requirements.
