Job summary

SFV Services in the greater Lansing area is seeking an experienced on-site Project Superintendent for a commercial construction project. You will lead field activities, coordinate with contractors and vendors, and ensure smooth project progression.

The role emphasizes greenfield to turn-key delivery, strict budget/schedule adherence, and professional representation of SFV Services on site. The nine-month project may extend to follow-on locations for top performers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as site Superintendent / PM with construction management experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide construction management/superintendent services throughout the course of construction.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and consultants during the project lifecycle.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and service providers.
• Assist in development of cost estimates and pre-construction planning.
• Assemble work scope for required subcontractors.
• Support in bidding processes, subcontractor outreach, and proposal preparation.
• Review plans and other technical documents.
• Answer questions regarding scope/time of the project.
• Monitor costs and project progress; maintain Buy-Out Summary.
• Maintain project documentation (Dropbox, Procore).
• Create, manage, and track RFIs from field to A/E for approval.
• Lead project team with conflict resolution between owner, contractors and subs.
• Turn in and track submittals from subs to A/E for approval.
• Understand building codes/regulations.
• Coordinate change-order management, creation, and negotiation.
• Conduct and document weekly project owner’s meetings/decisions.
• Assist site safety documentation and coordination; assist closeout.
• Assist accountant with monthly subcontractor billings and pay apps.

We have an immediate need for an experienced, on-site Project Superintendent for a Commercial Construction project located in the greater Lansing area.

Comp: $2,500 Bi-weekly period (fixed)

The Primary Focus and Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

• Provide construction Management/Superintendent services throughout the course of construction
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and consultants throughout the project lifecycle

• Lead project team with conflict resolution between owner, contractors and subcontractor

• Understand appropriate building codes/ regulations
• Coordinate project change-order management, creation, and negotiation
• Conduct and document weekly project owner’s meetings/decisions
• Assist the project team with site safety documentation and coordination
• Assist the project team with closeout of the project
• Assist the accountant with monthly subcontractor billings and pay applications

This is a greenfield to turn-key project, so prior experience with similar projects is highly desired. Strong knowledge of the local commercial construction environment (vendors, labor pool, permitting, etc.) is a must. In addition to field responsibilities, this position must represent SFV Services in a professional manner when dealing with site personnel and the project owner.

Requirements:

• 5-50 years in commercial construction (work in residential or civil/mega scale is not applicable to this role)
• 5+ years as a site Superintendent, Site Project Manager, or on-site Owners Representative with prior construction management experience
• Greenfield to turn-key experience
• People and Project Management skills
• Exceptional experience meeting budget and schedules
• The ability to anticipate and deal with unexpected blockages with grace and dignity

The anticipated schedule for this project is 9 months, with follow-up projects for this same customer in additional locations for the right candidate. These follow-on projects will involve travel.

Compensation:

This role is budgeted at $2,500 weekly (non-negotiable) and includes full SFV Services benefits.
