Cajun Industries, LLC is seeking a Deep Foundations Field Construction Manager with extensive on-site leadership to oversee complex foundation projects in the Baton Rouge area. The role requires deep foundations expertise, coordination with superintendents and PMs, and a strong focus on safety and schedule adherence.

You will mentor field personnel and ensure work meets specifications and client expectations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years in deep foundation construction.
  • Experience with drilled displacement piles, auger cast-in-place piles, H-pile, pile types and sheet pile.
  • Ability to plan procedures with staffing and schedules for each project phase.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring of field personnel.
  • Safety-focused with knowledge of on-site hazards and protection.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight for field operations on one or more projects.
  • Coordinate with jobsite superintendents and project management.
  • Review estimates, schedules, manpower, equipment, and costs.
  • Attend and/or lead client meetings and develop client relationships.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure workmanship and schedules are met.

Job description

The Deep Foundations Field Construction Manager must have at least 10 years of experience in all types of deep foundation work and experience with at least some of the following types of piles: drilled displacement piles, auger cast-in-place piles , concrete, timber, H-pile, pipe pile, sheet pile, drilled shafts & helical piles. Supports and coordinates with jobsite superintendents and project management to plan & direct construction activities in the field. Work directly with Senior Construction Manager and Business Unit Leadership to plan and execute projects safely. Studies project specifics to plan procedures for construction on the basis of starting and completion times, staffing requirements, and other variables for each phase of construction. Directs field personnel and subcontractors in executing work and the coordination of various phases of construction to prevent delays. Must learn and understand all safety hazards related to the work and learn to safely and effectively use or operate work related tools and equipment. Will be required to work in a plant operations or construction jobsite setting.

  • Provide oversight for field operations on one or multiple projects
  • Understand basic computer and software skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, OneNote).
  • Responsible for coaching and mentoring direct reports.
  • Review resumes and conducts interviews to identify candidates for future positions.
  • Understand the estimate, schedule, manpower requirements, equipment requirements and cost aspects of one or more projects.
  • Understand contract language
  • Monitor personnel and recruiting capabilities.
  • Attend and/or lead client meetings as necessary. Develop client relationships.
  • Confer with management to resolve complaints and grievances within the workforce
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules
  • Prepare and/or review reports on progress, material usage and cost, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports
  • Communicate and coordinate subcontractors to operate at the highest level and meet Cajun’s expectations

Qualifications
Physical
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs., but may occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Hearing and comprehension is necessary for giving and receiving directions
  • Will need to perform sedentary to heavy work
  • Will operate office equipment of all types
  • Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
  • Position may require prolonged bending/twisting, walking, reaching overhead, squatting, sitting or standing and lifting
  • Must be able to manipulate and traverse uneven terrain, ladders, and multi-floor buildings with no elevator
  • Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, muddy conditions, loose rock, loose/soft sand, etc.
  • Will be exposed to adverse weather conditions (Heat, Cold, Rain, Etc.)
  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to drive cars/trucks as needed
Mental
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management/ supervision and field workers
  • Talking and reading & writing comprehension is necessary for giving and receiving directions to perform work and/or safety policy
  • Ability to use math/complete calculations
  • Work at various tempos, and concentrate amid distractions
  • Decision making skills necessary
  • Detail-oriented; must be able to remember, examine, and observe details
  • Requires strong leadership and motivational skills and ability to serve as a mentor
