Job description

Superintendent

As a Superintendent, you are the heartbeat of the job site. Guiding daily operations, supporting field teams, and shaping the pace, flow, and quality of the work. Your leadership ensures the project runs safely, efficiently, and with the high standards Jackson is known for.

Department: Build It; Direct Supervisor: Division Manager

Essential Duties and Functions
  • Examine and interpret contract drawings, specifications, and addenda to identify design deficiencies, impractical details, and potential code violations. Ensure all required permits and licenses are obtained. Prepare detailed and accurate daily reports, including receiving and reviewing subcontractor daily reports on work performed, labor, and materials. Review and update all as‑built drawings and project documents weekly.
  • Create and maintain a monthly CPM schedule, developing schedule recovery strategies and improvements as needed. Maintain project phasing plans and schedules to ensure craft workers, subcontractors, and vendors understand workflow and required sequencing for achieving project milestones.
  • Develop, plan, and implement—with the project team—all safety protocols, quality control procedures, jobsite security, field office layout, temporary utilities, staging areas, equipment needs, and manpower requirements.
  • Inspect, coordinate, direct, and manage the daily activities of subcontractors, suppliers, and Jackson’s self‑perform crews.
  • Review and approve subcontractor and vendor monthly pay applications based on percentage of work completed. Review and manage all self‑performed work.
  • Lead weekly meetings with project staff, self‑perform teams, subcontractors, and/or the Owner to review progress, challenges, and upcoming activities.
  • Lead and support project staff and craft workers through training, mentorship, professional development, and consistent accountability.
  • Support business development efforts by participating in proposals, interviews, networking, and outreach opportunities.
Other Requirements
  • Conduct all interactions with coworkers, subcontractors, clients, and the public in a manner that builds and maintains long‑term, trust‑based relationships.
  • Go the extra mile to ensure project success and client satisfaction by double‑checking critical deliverables to reduce errors.
  • Approach all tasks with ownership, pride, and accountability.
  • Implement solutions quickly, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement through personal development and suggestions for company‑wide enhancements.
  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Maintain self‑motivation, punctuality, and strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
