Qualifications

Job description

What You Will Do
  • Represent Christman at the project site every day, setting expectations and maintaining commitments.
  • Review conceptual, schematic, and design documents for constructability, phasing, protection, logistics, and other field issues.
  • Establish site expectations for safety, quality, unforeseen conditions, housekeeping, and general conduct.
  • Plan and coordinate site logistics, including traffic patterns, equipment locations, storage, and staging.
  • Partner with Project Manager, client, and trade contractors to develop a work plan.
  • Coordinate the project team’s preparation for upcoming work through progress meetings.
  • Plan and coordinate the timely initiation, momentum, and completion of all trade contract work according to the project schedule.
  • Oversee the technical interpretation of construction documents and drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment as required.
  • Ensure consistency with contractual specifications and project requirements.
  • Discuss quality expectations with trade foremen prior to installation (pre‑bid, post‑bid, and pre‑installation meetings).
  • Arrange pre‑installation coordination meetings for all work areas involving overlapping trade contractors.
  • Arrange and coordinate timely permitting and required inspections to start and complete work.
  • Prioritize and review critical submittals for dimensional control and constructability.
  • Maintain a rolling punch list defining final quality expectations and ensure completion.
  • Verify and authorize trade contractor timesheets for extra work performed on a time‑and‑material basis.
  • Authorize purchase requisitions for material, equipment, and labor in agreement with Project Manager, Executive, or Director.
  • Complete thorough and accurate daily reports of progress, concerns, weather, safety inspections, violations, and accidents.
  • Continuously assess and analyze the project's actual status against goals, developing contingency plans and revising construction strategy as required.
  • When conflicts or disputes arise, focus all parties on developing mutually acceptable solutions aligned with contractual agreements.
  • Create and maintain a project‑specific safety program, highlighting hazards introduced by site conditions or work methods.
  • Develop and communicate leadership approaches for addressing hazards on the project.
  • Define safety expectations by providing a safety orientation for every individual who enters the site.
  • Address early offenses to clarify expectations and reinforce a commitment to safety, recognize and correct common hazards.
  • Report and investigate accidents and safety‑related incidents, disciplining repeat or extreme violations, including possible removal from the site.
What You Will Bring to the Team
  • 5 to 10 years of commercial construction experience as a superintendent on large commercial projects (healthcare, education, municipality, historic preservation).
  • Progressive experience in skilled trades disciplines.
  • Successful completion of classes or training in Construction Management, Project Management, Safety, and Communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop familiarity with site requirements, tools, methods, and materials across all trade divisions.
  • Skill in creating and building strong, positive relationships with owners, architects, and contractors.
  • Clear writing and rapid communication skills for a variety of audiences.
  • Strong problem‑solving and communication skills, with an understanding of risk management as it relates to project and company goals.
  • OSHA 30‑Hour certification, First‑Aid/CPR Certified Healthcare Constructor, CHC certification (preferred).
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).

Pay: $95,000.00 – $143,000.00 per year
