Job Description

The field supervision of construction projects to include interfacing with the project owner or agent, scheduling crews and subcontractors, communicating to the Project Manager any claims, and determining “as built” quantities of work performed.

Requirements

• Education: Minimum qualifications: High School Graduate with at least two years of experience in construction supervision.

Skills

• Leadership and negotiating skills.
• Conversational, analytical, and observational skills to organize, control, and manage all areas of field operations for the road construction industry.
• Knowledge of materials, equipment, methods, and techniques used in road construction.
• Knowledge of possible defects and faults in work and stages where such faults are most readily ascertained.
• Ability to understand and interpret contract terms and specifications.
• Ability to conduct effective inspections for contract compliance.
• Mathematical skills including calculating figures and concepts.
• Knowledge of construction lien laws.
• Computer skills: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Bluebeam.

Job Responsibilities

• Understanding and enforcing safety requirements.
• Reviewing plans and owner specifications, including subcontracted scopes.
• Understanding proper sequencing of roadway construction activities.
• Communicating schedule expectations internally and to subcontractors.
• Supervising compliance with contract specifications for company and subcontracted work.
• Accurate take-off of quantities and material requirements from plans and specifications.
• Preparing detailed resource requirements.
• Coordinating subcontractors and maintaining progress.
• Assisting in preparation and submission of schedules, claims, invoices, and other documents.
• Monitoring daily project costs.
