Job summary

MYCON General Contractors, Inc. is seeking an on-site Project Superintendent to supervise subcontractor labor, manage field activities, and uphold safety and quality standards on projects in Nashville.

You will coordinate with owners, architects, and vendors, ensure schedule and budget adherence, review shop drawings, and mentor field staff while maintaining daily progress records and submittals.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of construction experience; general contractor preferred.
• Knowledge of construction methods, blueprints, and specifications.
• Intermediate computer skills; proficiency with Procore or similar online project management software.

Responsibilities

• Assure safe working conditions on the job site in compliance with safety standards and MYCON safety programs and policies.
• Investigate and recommend improvements in work methods.
• Provide the project team with essential and pertinent information for accurate and timely submittal and project deliverable updates.
• Initiate and maintain positive relationships with owners, architects, consulting engineers, vendors, and others to ensure proper communication and rapport.
• Make proper and timely information available to keep stakeholders informed and maintain high credibility.
• Assess and evaluate subcontractor crews, ensuring they are supplied and scheduled to execute proper workflow and sequencing.
• Establish and maintain equitable, business‑like relationships between the company and subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring their performance.
• Mentor Assistant Superintendents and field team members to instill building principles and overall construction excellence.
• Ensure all company quality control and quality assurance programs are applied correctly in the field.
• Establish field objectives and construction sequencing for specific projects to ensure work aligns with contract documents.

Overview

The Project Superintendent is responsible for supervising subcontractor labor and job activities to ensure project schedules are completed on time and within budget. They maintain effective relationships with owners, architects, subcontractors, suppliers, and others related to the job; assure safe working conditions; obtain necessary services for job start‑up and demobilization; and manage MYCON specific job‑related equipment and materials. The role works as a team member with the Project Team and General Superintendent.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Determine location of existing utilities and set up temporary facilities and services.
• Evaluate alternatives for equipment usage and determine material and small tool purchases.
• Review shop drawings to ensure fabricated materials are properly specified.
• Assist project manager in estimating and verifying accuracy of subcontractor claims.
• Manage daily reports, safety inspections, safety meetings, and Procore documentation.
• Plan, schedule, and take minutes for weekly subcontractor meetings; maintain rolling schedules and rolling schedule reports.
• Collect and upload daily digital pictures describing progress.
• Comply with SWPPP program requirements.
• Update “as‑built” documents weekly; prohibit reconstruction at project end.

Minimum Requirements

• HS Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• OSHA 30‑hour training certification.
• CPR/First Aid.
• Minimum five years of construction experience; general contractor preferred.
• Knowledge of construction methods, blueprints, and specifications.
• Strong supervisory and personnel management skills.
• Intermediate computer skills; proficiency with Procore or similar online project management software.

Physical Demands

The role requires sitting, conversing, listening, using hands to manipulate tools, reaching with hands and arms, lifting and carrying over 50 lbs periodically, pushing/pulling over 50 lbs, standing and/or walking at least eight hours per day, and working outdoors in varying temperatures. Attendance must be reliable and predictable. The environment can be stressful, requiring collaboration as part of a team.
