Job summary

Strike Group is seeking a Project Superintendent to lead field operations on Brownfield plant projects across Alberta, ensuring safety, schedule, quality, and coordination with trade contractors.

You will direct crews, manage resources and budgets, liaise with the Project Manager and clients, uphold Strike’s safety standards, and recruit personnel as needed. This role requires 6–10 years of experience and strong leadership.

Qualifications

  • 6–10 years of experience in a superintendent role.
  • Brownfield Plant/Compressor Station experience with civil, below ground, and above ground piping.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods and blueprint reading.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office; capable of analytical thinking and problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight, planning and supervision for all disciplines of the project.
  • Manage crews, sub-contractors and project resources to complete the job.
  • Lead safety toolbox meetings and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
  • Participate in construction planning and scheduling.
  • Maintain client contact on contract issues, schedule, and technical matters.
  • Oversee materials, tools and equipment for the project.
  • Reinforce adherence to company standards and ticketing requirements.
  • Support HR in staffing decisions and manpower changes.
  • Document violations and incidents.

Job description

Position Summary – Project Superintendent

The Construction Superintendent will manage and control assigned projects, including overseeing field operations, site safety, productivity, schedule, quality work, and trade contractor and supplier coordination and work in conjunction with the Project Manager leading the project team. They provide technical management and project leadership on construction projects at the field level. Responsibilities include directing the day-to-day activities onsite; planning crew activities in the short and long turn; resolving field construction issues; field level client relations; maintaining Strike’s high standard of safety and quality; managing small-to medium-sized projects or directing one portion of a major project and overseeing proper protocols in the field.

Core Accountabilities
  • Reporting to the Project Manager provide oversight, planning and supervision for all disciplines of the project
  • Manage the crews, sub-contractors and all other resources in order to complete the job
  • Build a competitively superior organization by attracting, developing, and retaining talent to ensure that people with the right skills and motivations are in the right place, at the right time to meet business needs
  • Conduct daily site safety toolbox meetings
  • Actively participate in the construction planning and scheduling
  • Maintain regular contact with client representatives on contract issues, schedule, delivery, and technical issues
  • Manage materials, tools and equipment required for the project
  • Lead the overall implementation to insure that the project is constructed in a timely and cost effective manner
  • Work closely with HR to recruit, hire and change manpower
  • If required, manage project budget, and project resource allocation
  • Ensure all field personnel complete required safety training and hold appropriate tickets
  • Ensure all field personnel comply with project procedures, safety requirements, and work and equipment maintenance procedures
  • Ensure all equipment and facilities are operated and maintained in accordance with approved company standards and practices
  • Document all violations and incidents
Experience
  • At least 6-10 years of experience in a superintendent role
  • Must have Brownfield Plant/Compressor Station Experience with knowledge of civil, below ground, & above ground piping
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
  • Solid understanding of construction methods and blueprint reading
  • Sound knowledge of construction execution and best practices
  • Superior leadership skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Developed analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Capable of participating in and facilitating group meetings
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Capable of working independently with minimal direction
  • Possesses an eye for detail
