Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Project Structural Welder B in Channelview, TX to set up, operate and adjust welding equipment for manual and automatic processes. The role requires experience with FCAW and the ability to work on carbon and stainless steel in all positions.

You will be part of a team at the Solar Turbines facility in Channelview, with emphasis on safety, quality, and meeting production targets. Overtime and weekend shifts may be required to support production demands.

Qualifications

• Must pass structural welder qualification test and weld with FCAW.
• Minimum 6 months of experience in a production environment.
• Ability to work 2nd shift and overtime.
• Ability to work well individually or in a team.

Additional Information: * Urgently hiring* Multiple openings* This is a supplemental position located at the Solar Turbines manufacturing facility located in Channelview, TX* No relocation package is available**Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:** * Perform Manual finish welding operations on carbon and stainless steel in all positions* Follow documented procedures and standard work to perform safe and defect free operations* Perform carbon arc cutting and gouging* Sanding may be required to prepare and dress welds* Use of forklifts, pallet jacks, jib and overhead cranes to move and position work pieces**Required Qualifications:** * Must be able to successfully pass the structural welder qualification test and weld with FCAW process* Be available to work 2*nd* shift* Minimum of 6 months of experience in a production environment* Ability to work overtime to support production demands, including weekends* Ability to work well individually or in a team environment* Ability to perform simple computer operations**Desired Qualifications:** * Combination Structural Welder and Fitter* One (1) to three (3) years of FCAW welding experience with structural steel components* One year of GMAW welding experience* At least one (1) year of experience Air Carbon Arc Gouging**Top Candidates:** * Combination Structural Welder and Fitter* Good Communication Skills and strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork* Experience with Automated or Mechanized welding systems such as: Robotic Welding Cells, Orbital Welding and/or Track Welders* 6GR Qualification* Leadership Experience *All eligible candidates MUST pass the following pre-employment screenings before they can be hired to any position:* * Background Screening* Physical and drug/alcohol screening### ### **Summary Pay Range:**$22.74 - $34.11Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
