Role description:

We are seeking a Staff/Project Electrical Engineer in Albany, NY, who is eager to develop expertise in electrical design within the water and wastewater industry. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and technical proficiency.

The role involves designing, analyzing, and laying out systems such as:

  • Substations
  • Power distribution systems
  • Standby power systems
  • Lighting systems
  • Operational Technology (OT) networks
  • Security and access control systems
  • Equipment relay logic
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Instrumentation and control systems

Responsibilities include managing small to medium projects independently and supporting larger projects, primarily within New York State, with remote collaboration across national teams.

Key responsibilities:

Provide technical and design consulting focused on electrical power distribution, controls, lighting, and communication systems for Arcadis' Water Division. Support project planning, design, and construction, act as the primary client contact, and develop project management skills by overseeing budgets and schedules.

Perform electrical design tasks using CAD (Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD), modeling software (SKM, ETAP, EasyPower), and lighting software (ElumTools, Visual, Dialux). Establish design criteria, perform calculations, and develop diagrams and specifications. Support construction through review of submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs, and conduct field inspections with possible travel.

Qualifications & experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience
  • PE license or eligibility to obtain one
