Job Description: Project Specialist at Brown and Caldwell

Brown and Caldwell (BC) is a leader in wastewater, drinking water, water resources, stormwater, infrastructure, environmental planning, permitting, and program management. We are seeking an experienced Project Specialist to contribute immediately to a high-profile program transitioning from planning to design and construction. This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with industry leaders and deliver benefits to California communities and the environment.

The Project Specialist will be responsible for planning, organizing, and scheduling project tasks; monitoring performance and deliverables; managing document control; and supporting project and construction managers. The duties include:

  1. Supporting project managers and team members in data collection, communication, and coordination.
  2. Assisting with state and federal funding administration, including maintaining SOPs and preparing reports.
  3. Ensuring compliance with program policies and procedures.
  4. Supporting contract management and document organization.
  5. Developing reports, memoranda, and presentations.
  6. Coordinating regulatory reporting and maintaining records.
  7. Supporting construction administration, procurement, change management, and review processes.
  8. Coordinating QA/QC efforts and maintaining project relationships.
  9. Leading meetings and collaborating across regions to optimize resource deployment.
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree with 2-5 years of experience, or 10+ years in related fields.
  • Experience with large project delivery and client engagement is a plus.
  • Effective communicator, self-starter, results-oriented, and adaptable.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and team management skills.
  • Proficiency with project management tools and software (e.g., MS Excel, PMIS).
  • Ability to travel for client meetings.
Salary Range:

Location A: $72,000 - $98,000

Location B: $79,000 - $108,000

Location C: $87,000 - $118,000
