JOB SUMMARY
Supports the Division of Academics & Strategic Initiatives with the development of grants and special projects through the lens of project management. Works collaboratively to develop and manage systems, processes and structures to ensure the efficient management of instructional programs. Performs a variety of tasks related to the support and development of partnerships, projects and grants. Understands grant funds management, knowledge of the school system organization and the ability to work with team members from various offices in a professional and courteous manner. This position requires knowledge of curriculum and instruction to elevate all students and eliminate all gaps.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organizes and manages the grant application process for Academics & Strategic Initiatives and serves as the liaison to multiple offices, community partners, MSDE and individuals involved with funding opportunities.
  • Supports team members and schools in the grant development process, including facilitating meetings, coordinating team members, setting timelines, data collection interpretation, writing, and editing.
  • Responsible for logistical planning and tactical execution of large-scale projects designed by Academics & Strategic Initiatives.
  • Manages implementation of various grant or projects initiatives and requirements. Monitors school level implementation to ensure documentation of services meet grant requirements.
  • Collaborates with team members to ensure efficiency and effectiveness during all phases of the project. Ensures projects meet established completion and deadlines.
  • Participates in local, state, and federal monitoring initiatives, including analyzing multiple student achievement and performance data.
  • Works collaboratively with representatives from various departments including Budget, Purchasing, Grants, Human Resources, Student Services and School Performance.
  • Independently researches and prepares responses to requests for information or support.
  • Investigates and discovers instructional programs that can be utilized in Academics & Strategic Initiatives.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required;
  • Master's Degree in related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university preferred.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Experience

  • Two (2) years professional program/project management, grant development, financial operations or purchasing experience required. and
  • Experience in a Pre-K–12 public education environment preferred;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics

  • Knowledge of grants development, application process and grant funding requirements; especially as they relate to public education.
  • Knowledge of the curricula of the public schools, including familiarity with State regulations and legislation.
  • Knowledge of programs of choice – Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), Performing and Visual Arts (PVA) and International Baccalaureate (IB).
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proven organizational, analytical and planning skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement, take initiative and use tact in dealing with public school personnel and business community members.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and/or preferred).

Licenses and Certifications
Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment.

  • Hold or be eligible for Educator Certification: Advanced Professional Certificate (APC) issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) preferred;
  • Hold or be eligible for Driver's License (DL) Class C Non-Commercial issued by Maryland or State of Legal Residence (MVA/DMV) required; and
  • Daily access to reliable transportation.
