Intertek’s Building Science Solutions (BSS) group is primarily focused on building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and field performance testing for new construction and retrofit projects.
The Project Specialist assists project teams through design and construction phases, supporting new construction enclosure consulting and commissioning, as well as evaluations, investigations, and repairs of existing buildings. This position will travel frequently within and outside the local area, depending on workloads and project locations; estimate is 25%.
Complete field performance testing and water leakage testing of roofing and waterproofing systems, windows, curtain walls, and other building elements
Perform quality assurance observations and monitor the construction process to assure that roofing projects stay in compliance with approved construction drawings, specifications, and warranty stipulated installation procedures
Perform construction administration services and site visits
Assist with/perform forensic investigations and documentation of existing conditions including wall claddings, windows, curtain wall systems, roofs, skylights, plaza waterproofing and below grade elements, etc.
Prepare professionally written field reports
Learn to perform building enclosure reviews of architectural drawings, shop drawings and submittals
Learn to prepare sketches and details using Bluebeam and hand-drawn techniques

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
5+ years’ experience in Building Enclosure consulting or Building Construction industry
Working knowledge of building construction, roofing, and other building enclosure systems
Construction administration, progress observation and site inspection experience
Ability to efficiently work on multiple projects, simultaneously, in a team environment
Excellent organizational and project management skillswith demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
Consistent and professional interaction and communication
Ability to perform office tasks and physical labor tasks
Ability to observe work from ladders, boom-lifts, scaffolds, swing stages, roofs, etc.
Ability to travel frequently within and outside the local area, depending on workloads and project locations, estimate 25% travel time
Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture
