Job summary

Intertek is seeking a Building Enclosure Project Specialist in Cleveland, Ohio to support design and construction phases, including enclosure consulting and commissioning. The role involves evaluating and repairing building envelopes for new and existing structures, with travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities include field testing, QA observations, site visits, and documenting conditions. Strong communication, organization and ability to manage multiple projects are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering is required.
• 7+ years’ experience in Building Enclosure is acceptable in lieu of the degree.
• Strong knowledge of building construction, roofing, and enclosure systems.
• Experience with construction administration, progress observation and site inspection.

Responsibilities

• Perform field performance and water leakage testing on roofing, windows, air barriers and curtain walls.
• Monitor construction to ensure compliance with drawings, specs and warranty procedures.
• Conduct site visits and construction administration tasks at jobsites.
• Assist with forensic investigations and documentation of existing conditions.
• Prepare professional field reports and notes for enclosure reviews.
• Learn to review architectural drawings, shop drawings and submittals for enclosure elements.
• Create sketches and details using Bluebeam and hand-drawn techniques.

Intertek’s Building Science Solutions(BSS) group is primarily focused on building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and field performance testing for new construction and retrofit projects.

What are we looking for?

TheProject Specialistassistsproject teams through design and construction phases, supporting new construction enclosure consulting and commissioning, as well as evaluations, investigations, and repairs of existing buildings.This position will travelfrequentlywithin and outside the local area, depending on workloads and project locations;estimate is25%.

Shift/Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 8-5PM

Whatyou’lldo:

• Completefield performance testing and water leakage testing of roofing and waterproofing systems, windows,air barriers,curtain walls, and other building elements
• Perform quality assurance observations andmonitorthe construction process to assure that roofingand building enclosure related projectsstay in compliance with approved construction drawings, specifications, and warranty stipulated installation procedures
• Performconstruction administration services and site visitsat construction jobsites
• Assistwith/perform forensic investigations and documentation of existing conditions including wall claddings, windows, curtain wall systems, roofs, skylights, plaza waterproofing and below grade elements, etc.
• Prepare professionally written field reports
• Learn to perform buildingenclosure reviews of architectural drawings, shopdrawingsand submittals
• Learn to prepare sketches and details using Bluebeam and hand-drawn techniques

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering with 2+ years’ experience in Building Enclosure OR;
• 7+ years’ experience in Building Enclosure in lieu of degree
• Workingknowledgeofbuildingconstruction, roofing, and other building enclosure systems
• Construction administration, progressobservationand site inspection experienceAbility toefficiently work on multiple projects, simultaneously, in a team environment
• Excellent organizational and project management skillswithdemonstratedability to meet deadlines
• Consistent and professional interaction and communication
• Field experience or strong interest in working onsite
• Ability to perform office tasks and physical labor tasks
• Ability to observework from ladders,boom-lifts, scaffolds, swing stages, roofs, etc.
• Ability to travelfrequentlywithin and outside the local area, depending on workloads and project locations, estimate 25% travel time
• ValidDriver’sLicense and reliable driving record

• Safety Training / Aerial Lift Certification
