Job summary

ADEC is seeking a Project Search Job Coach to collaborate with student interns, school systems, host businesses, and Vocational Rehabilitation to secure competitive employment for participants. You will coach, train, and place interns, while developing internship sites and ensuring essential work skills are taught for independence.

Responsibilities include guiding interns through work culture, managing progress with stakeholders, and organizing open houses and events.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Rehabilitation, Psychology, or related field.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
• Ability to lift 60 pounds.
• Pass background and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Provide interns with employment services including coaching, training, development, and placement.
• Assess and reinforce interns' employability skills and educate about work culture.
• Develop internship sites with business liaison and instructors, and plan modifications as needed.
• Teach essential tasks and core job skills to interns to promote independence.
• Maintain open communication with stakeholders about intern progress and opportunities.
• Recruit potential Project Search interns for the next year (minimum 8).
• Organize open houses, events, and fundraisers for Project Search in collaboration with instructors.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and required documentation for billing and milestones.

Job description

The Position:

The Project Search Job Coach is accountable for effective collaboration with student interns, school system, host business and Vocational Rehabilitation resulting in the ultimate goal of competitive employment for Project Search participants/graduates.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide Project Search interns with employment services including coaching, training, development, and placement.
• Asses, develop, and reinforce employability skills of interns, as well as educate interns regarding work culture and appropriate work behaviors.
• Works with business liaison, department managers, instructor and fellow job coaches to develop internship sites, write job descriptions, task lists, job analysis and plan for necessary modifications for the internships and competitive jobs.
• Teaches the essential tasks/duties/core skills of the job to the interns with a goal of encouraging natural supports and helping the intern achieve independence.
• Keeps all team members informed of intern progress, concerns, and opportunities that may arise for other rotations or employment opportunities.
• Partners with instructor to identify and recruit potential Project Search interns for the following school year with a minimum expectation of 8 interns being selected and starting the program.
• Responsible for organization and implementation, in collaboration with instructor, for Project Search open houses, special events, and fundraisers.
• Maintain positive and collaborative communication with all stakeholders including: ADEC staff, consumers and their supports, community partners, employers, and Vocational Rehabilitation.
• Demonstrate knowledge or ability to learn about services, resources, and regulations related to achieving employment outcomes to include Social Security, Medicaid, and other related plans as appropriate.
• Responsible for productivity measures which include; identifying and recruiting potential Project Search interns for following year, submitting documentation required for milestone billing in appropriate timeframe, demonstrating the ability to work independently, and balancing PTO/sick time with consumer and staffing needs.
• Ability to work with consumers experiencing a diverse range of abilities.
• Demonstrate ownership and initiative for professional development.
• Maintain accreditation requirements.

Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
• Preference of Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation, Psychology, or appropriate alternative and one year of related work experience
• Ability to lift 60 pounds
• Valid driver’s license
• Proof of car insurance
• Pass background and negative drug test
• Walking, bending, stooping, climbing stairs, and lifting to assist clients as needed.
