Job summary

UC San Diego's Department of Ophthalmology seeks a Project Scientist to join a team researching molecular mechanisms that confer resilience in retinal disorders and support retinal regeneration studies.

The selected candidate will perform studies, provide onsite teaching and mentoring, draft manuscripts, prepare presentations, and participate in grant writing. Appointments at Assistant, Associate, or Full Project Scientist level.

Qualifications

• PhD or MD/PhD in Neuroscience, Developmental or Cell Biology or health-related fields.
• 5+ years experience in generating, breeding, and genotyping transgenic models.
• Experience with brain and retinal histological techniques (immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization).
• Experience with Visium/Xenium spatial transcriptomics.
• Experience generating and analyzing single-cell RNA-Seq data from retinal tissue/organoids.

Responsibilities

• Perform studies and provide onsite teaching and mentoring of students and staff.
• Draft manuscripts, prepare presentations, and participate in grant writing.
