Job summary

Apex Companies is seeking a Project Scientist to join our environmental team supporting projects across Eastern PA and Western NJ. This field-based role emphasizes hands-on site investigations, sampling, and data interpretation, with Iselin, NJ as the home office and monthly office visits expected.

Travel to project sites occurs quarterly and overnight travel is possible. We welcome candidates with a foundation in environmental fieldwork who are eager to develop technical skills further.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in environmental consulting or field experience.
• Experience with field sampling, site investigations, and data collection.
• Familiar with geoprobe/direct-push drilling, groundwater sampling, or air sampling.
• Knowledge of NJDEP/ NYSDEC / PADEP regulations preferred.
• Proficient in standard environmental field procedures and documentation.
• Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform environmental field investigations and site visits at properties.
• Collect soil, groundwater, surface water, air, and building material samples.
• Assist with low-flow groundwater sampling and monitoring activities.
• Assist with Geoprobe drilling and direct-push investigations.
• Prepare technical reports, tables, and project documentation.
• Ensure field work complies with safety procedures and project schedules.
