Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) is actively seeking Engineering, Professional, Technical, and administrative support personnel to join our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy at the Y‑12 National Security Complex (Oak Ridge, Tennessee) and the Pantex Plant (Amarillo, Texas). Successful candidates will be employees of AIS but will work under the direction of Y‑12 staff. Pay, benefits, HR, and employment management are provided by AIS.
Qualified applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old, and able to meet pre‑employment requirements including physicals, drug screen, and background investigation required for DOE clearance.
Responsibilities
- Execute technical activities of assigned projects to ensure efficient and timely completion in accordance with Government and Plant directives.
- Plan, coordinate, and direct activities to meet demands of Project Management mission in accordance with assigned organizational authorities.
- Provide technical aptitude, integration, and leadership for planning, scheduling, monitoring, configuration control, analysis, and reporting across multiple scopes of varying size, complexity, and risk.
- Ensure Project Managers have tools to confirm projects are on track, within budget, and compliant with requirements.
- Participate in planning, development, monitoring, and control of project scope, cost, and schedule integration.
- Utilize tools and systems to manage, control, and report on cost and schedule for concurrent projects.
- Develop cost, schedule, and risk plans; collect and track performance data; analyze; forecast estimate to complete; and report.
- Identify and track changes or potential changes to project scope; communicate cost and schedule impacts.
- Integrate cost and schedule data and reporting with company accounting and management information systems to achieve performance and financial goals.
- Interact with internal and external stakeholders to collect, analyze business input, and distribute outputs.
- Lead organization toward established visions and objectives.
- Apply knowledge of control systems including Earned Value Management and applicable project management processes.
- Demonstrate oral and written communication skills in reporting to customers and stakeholders.
- Work with personnel at all levels across the organization and external stakeholders.
- Identify and develop needed resources; evaluate project and process problems to determine appropriate solutions; interface with internal and external customers, including management, users, DOE, NNSA, and NPO.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree plus 20 years of relevant experience.
- Q clearance or ability to obtain one is required.
- Advanced skills in planning and schedule compliance.
- Advanced skills in cost control, change management, and variance reporting.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, high motivation, high standards, and ability to work with the team to resolve project issues and meet short deadlines.
- Primavera P6 experience.
- Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office, SAP, and/or WebEVM (CloudEVM).
- Experience in Empower.
Preferred Job Requirements
- 25+ years of scheduling experience.
- 15+ years of scheduling experience on DOE 413.3b projects; working knowledge of DOE policies, procedures, and requirements related to project controls.
- Advanced experience in Empower.
- Cross‑functional experience in Project/Control Account Management for DOE projects; experience managing multiple scopes of work and vendors.
Special Requirements
- Pre‑employment drug screen; external applicants must successfully complete a post‑offer pre‑employment drug test.
- Medical examinations may be required.
- This position may require obtaining and maintaining a DOE clearance. If so, it may be designated a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing position requiring participation in an ongoing random drug testing program in addition to the pre‑employment drug screen.
