Job summary

Lusternational in San Jose, CA seeks a Project Scheduler to develop, maintain, and analyze schedules for a portfolio of major transit capital projects. You’ll support planning through closeout on-site, coordinating with project teams to ensure timely delivery and accurate reporting.

The role requires CPM, Primavera P6/Unifier, MS Project, and strong communication skills. On-site in San Jose with a comprehensive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or equivalent combo of education and experience.
  • 5+ years in schedules for transit or heavy civil infrastructure projects.
  • Strong CPM scheduling, schedule development, analysis, and forecasting.
  • Experience reviewing contractor baselines and monthly updates.
  • Experience performing Time Impact Analysis (TIA) and evaluating schedule impacts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update master and detailed schedules for a portfolio of projects.
  • Manage schedules for ~80–100 active projects across planning through construction.
  • Analyze schedules to identify critical path, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Review contractor baselines, monthly updates, and narratives for contract compliance.
  • Perform TIA to evaluate impacts from changes and delays.
  • Coordinate with managers, controls staff, consultants, and contractors on scheduling.
  • Integrate project schedules into program master schedules for reporting.
  • Support controls activities: schedule performance, cost, funding, earned value.
  • Prepare schedule analyses, progress reports, and executive dashboards.

Job description

About the Position

We’re seeking a Project Scheduler to support a portfolio of major transit capital improvement projects. Your primary focus will be developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules for the owner's Project Controls team, supporting projects from planning and design through construction and closeout while helping ensure successful project delivery.

This is a long-term, full-time, on-site position located in San Jose, CA.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and update master schedules, detailed project schedules, schedule forecasts, recovery schedules, and schedule reports for a portfolio of transportation capital projects.
  • Manage and regularly update schedules for approximately 80 to 100 active projects throughout planning, design, procurement, and construction.
  • Analyze project schedules to identify critical path activities, schedule risks, constraints, and opportunities for schedule improvement.
  • Review contractor baseline schedules, monthly schedule updates, recovery schedules, and schedule narratives for compliance with contract requirements.
  • Perform Time Impact Analysis (TIA) to evaluate schedule impacts associated with contract changes, delays, and change orders.
  • Coordinate closely with project managers, project controls staff, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to maintain accurate project schedules and resolve schedule‑related issues.
  • Integrate individual project schedules into larger program or master schedules to support program‑level reporting and decision‑making.
  • Support project controls activities involving schedule performance, cost controls, funding, earned value concepts, and project reporting.
  • Prepare schedule analyses, progress reports, executive dashboards, and other management reports that communicate project status, schedule performance, and forecasted outcomes.
  • Provide scheduling requirements and schedule specifications for inclusion in procurement and construction contract documents.
  • Evaluate contractor work sequencing, construction methods, productivity assumptions, and schedule logic to verify schedule reasonableness.
  • Support contract administration activities involving schedule analysis, change management, claims avoidance, and schedule documentation.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external agencies to support project planning, delivery, and reporting requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience developing, maintaining, and analyzing schedules for transit or other similar heavy civil infrastructure capital projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling principles, schedule development, schedule analysis, and schedule forecasting.
  • Experience developing and reviewing contractor baseline schedules and monthly schedule updates.
  • Experience performing Time Impact Analysis (TIA) and evaluating schedule impacts associated with contract changes and delays.
  • Knowledge of earned value concepts and their application to project controls and schedule performance measurement.
  • Understanding of construction sequencing, construction means and methods, contract administration, and change management.
  • Experience coordinating with project managers, contractors, consultants, and owner representatives throughout project delivery.
  • Experience preparing schedule analyses, progress reports, executive reporting, and schedule performance metrics.
  • Proficiency with Oracle Primavera P6, Oracle Primavera Unifier, Microsoft Project, and other project controls software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or architecture.
  • Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP), Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Cost Professional (CCP), or equivalent certification.
  • Experience supporting owner’s representative, program management, or construction management assignments.
  • Experience supporting design‑build, CM/GC, or progressive design‑build delivery methods.
  • Experience evaluating construction claims and schedule entitlement.
  • Experience integrating multiple project schedules into program‑level master schedules.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI or similar dashboard KPI reporting software.
Compensation Details

Expected Salary: $105k-$135k/year ($50-$65/hour). Luster provides the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might offer for this position based on the successful candidate’s level of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, certifications, licenses, geographic location, etc. Luster reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range depending on circumstances not related to any status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
