Job description

Project Safety Manager I implements the RES System (SMS) on wind, solar, substation, transmission, or energy storage projects in the US or Canada.

Responsibilities
  • Promote company safety culture through coaching, development, influence, and training.
  • Serve as subject‑matter expert and liaison for health and safety for the project team and client.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies and third parties during audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Prioritize daily, weekly and monthly goals and tasks for the Project Safety Specialist working on the project.
  • Develop and maintain site‑specific documentation including the Site Safety Plan, Site Rules, Emergency Response Plan, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and Site Orientation.
  • Oversee Permit to Work processes.
  • Deliver training on Safety Initiatives, Site Orientation, Work Instructions, Safety Management System (SMS) requirements, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead safety‑related discussions at Plan of the Day (POD) Meetings, All Hands Meetings, Tailgate Meetings, Staff Meetings, Kickoff/Preparatory, and Client/Owner Meetings.
  • Lead the implementation of project safety incentive programs.
  • Inspect work areas to verify consistency with procedural, client and regulatory requirements.
  • Procure, distribute and maintain safety‑related materials and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the project.
  • Conduct Incident Investigations to determine root cause and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Develop Incident Reports to support findings from Incident Investigations.
  • Drive implementation of proposed corrective actions to completion.
  • Maintain incident data and safety metrics to compile reports.
  • Facilitate injury management and coordinate emergency response efforts.
  • Facilitate Drug and Alcohol Testing Procedure.
  • Operate company vehicle safely to drive to various site locations.
  • Attend work regularly and punctually as scheduled or expected.
  • Comply with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Present, support and lead by example with a safety and quality‑oriented attitude.
  • Assist in development of Risk Assessments and Work Instructions.
  • Monitor weather conditions and manage severe weather response.
  • Communicate safety‑related incidents to Corporate Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) Department across the organization.
  • Perform ad‑hoc job‑related duties, functions and projects to support the Project Safety Manager II and/or HSQE Department.
  • Assist HSQE Department in the development of Safety Alerts related to incidents to help create awareness across the business unit and organization.
  • Facilitate audits and inspections by third parties and regulatory agencies.
  • Procure, distribute and maintain safety‑related tools and equipment for the project.
  • Perform any other job‑related duties or functions requested by the Senior Safety Supervisor and/or HSQE Department.
  • Follow safety and security procedures and determine appropriate action.
  • Ensure that safety is the most important function and follow safe practices while working.
  • Reinforce safe behaviors and eliminate at‑risk behaviors.
  • Report potentially unsafe conditions and use materials and equipment properly.
  • Ensure Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) occurs before scopes of work commence.
  • Adhere to and understand standard operating procedures.
  • Receive job and task‑specific training prior to work commencing.

Qualifications
  • High school or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health and Safety related field preferred.
  • 3 or more years of Construction Industry Safety experience required; 5 or more years preferred.
  • 3 or more years Energy/Utility Industry Safety experience preferred.
  • Certification in Emergency Medical Technician preferred.
  • Certification in CHST/CUSP/OHST/NCSO preferred.
  • Certification in First Aid/CPR/AED preferred.
  • Certification in CSP/ASP/GSP/SMP/CRSP/CHSC preferred.
  • Certification NFPA 70E/CSA Z462 preferred.
  • OSHA 30 Certification required.
  • OSHA 510 Certification preferred.
  • OSHA 500 Certification preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Domestic and international travel 76‑100% required.
Compensation & Benefits

Anticipated base salary range: $96,000 - $120,000.

Location: Palmer, Texas. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
