Job summary

Irby Construction Company, a Transmission Powerline construction arm, seeks a Project Safety Coordinator to lead safety across Texas. You will coach crews, implement safety plans, and ensure OSHA compliance on major transmission projects.

Travel within Texas and surrounding states required; strong leadership and field experience preferred. In this hands-on role, you will collaborate with project teams, conduct tailgate talks, investigate incidents, and drive proactive risk management while

• 5+ years of field safety or leadership experience in Transmission Powerline and Substation Construction.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with credibility in the field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
• Knowledge and/or experience with safety documentation and reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety on major transmission projects across Texas.

A Project Safety Coordinator at Irby Construction Company (Transmission Powerline Construction) (TEXAS/OKLAHOMA)

What You'll Do

• Leading and reinforcing Irby’s culture of Ownership of Safety
• Coaching crews to identify and correct hazards in real time
• Integrating safety planning into daily operations — from pre-construction throughcompletion
• Supporting safe execution of transmission activities, including:
  • Structure erection, wire stringing, rigging, energized line work, grounding,and heavy equipment operations and more
• Leading tailgate talks, site meetings, and on-the-job training
• Managing incident investigations, reporting, and corrective actions
• Ensuring OSHA compliance, audits, and documentation
• Driving continuous improvement and proactive risk manage

What You'll Bring

What We’re Looking For

A safety professional who’s lived the work — and can lead with both experience and knowledge.

Requirements

• 5+ years of field safety or leadership experience (e.g., General Foreman, Crew Lead,Journeyman Lineman, Operator, Crane experience) in Transmission Powerline andSubstation Construction
• Strong communication and leadership skills with credibility in the field
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
• Knowledge and/or Experience with safety documentation and reporting systems
• Communication skills (verbally and electronically)

Preferred, not required:

• First Aid/CPR/AED & Bloodborne Pathogens Trainer Certification
• CHST or similar safety credential

Who You Are

• Experienced in powerline or transmission work environments
• A coach and leader who builds safe habits without slowing progress
• Organized, self-motivated, and decisive in the field
• Skilled in safety training, observations, and reporting
• Hold a valid driver’s license and willing to travel within Texas or surrounding states
