Job summary

Vaughn Construction seeks a seasoned Project Safety Coordinator to manage site-wide safety and health administration on Texas projects. You will develop on-site programs, lead audits, and coordinate training and incident investigations to protect workers and the client’s interests.

You will report on safety performance, manage WC claims, and ensure compliance with HAZCOM and regulatory standards. This role requires bilingual English/Spanish capability and strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum seven years of experience in construction safety or equivalent.
• OSHA 500 or 502 within four years.
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED training within two years.
• Experience with fall protection, scaffolds, excavation, confined space, crane operations, and incident investigation.

Responsibilities

• Administers GC and Owner safety program requirements.
• Develops specific on-site safety programs and conducts site audits.
• Leads accident investigations and handles workers’ compensation claims.
• Trains personnel through toolbox talks and meetings.
• Maintains safety records and reports to Owner; ensures compliance with HAZCOM and regulatory requirements.
• Stays current on safety regulations and supports on-time project delivery.

Position Overview

Our project safety coordinators are responsible for project-wide safety and health administration including developing specific on-site programs, performing site audits, leading accident investigations, training personnel, managing workers’ compensation claims, and administering first aid when necessary. This position may interact with all personnel on a project site at various times throughout the project.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Administers both the GC and Owner safety program requirements.
• Develops specific onsite programs, as required.
• Performs site audits for unsafe practices, conditions-make recommendations and/or know specific regulation on proper corrections.
• Trains personnel (e.g. Vaughn toolbox-sub in general meetings).
• Reports WC claims and performs onsite WC administration for both VCC and sub injuries.
• Performs recordkeeping/document control for HAZCOM, training etc. This includes various reports to Owner.
• Assists in develop/maintain Hazard Analysis Documentation.
• Administers First Aid, CPR, AED where necessary.
• Stays current on safety regulations.
• Performs other duties and services to ensure a successful project is delivered and client is satisfied.
• Maintains excellent attendance and punctuality.

Education and Training

• Minimum of seven years of experience in construction safety or equivalent combinations of CSP, OHST, CHST, etc.
• Minimum of five years of experience in building construction safety.
• Current OSHA 500 or 502 training within four years.
• Current emergency first aid, CPR, and AED training within two years.
• Working knowledge, experience, and documented continuing education in fall protection, scaffolds, excavation, confined space, crane/equipment operations, electrical, and incident investigation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to deal with a variety of people from craft workers to project Owners.
• Ability to maintain credibility with appropriate audiences each day.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be bi-lingual or have means to translate between English and Spanish.
• Good organizational and planning skills.
