Job summary

Ames Construction is seeking a Project Quality Manager to lead quality activities on heavy civil projects. You will develop and implement the Project Quality Plan, monitor QMS compliance, and drive improvements across teams to meet contract requirements.

This role requires strong communication, readiness to travel up to 50–80% on multi-projects or be fully on-site for a single project, and a relevant degree with construction experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 2–5 years of construction quality or technical experience.
• Knowledge of USACE, DOT, ASTM, ACI, AASHTO preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems with teammates.
• Proficient in MS Office, Bluebeam, Outlook, SharePoint, and project software.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass MVR.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Project Quality Plan and ensure QMS compliance.
• Lead corrective actions and verify effectiveness.
• Report nonconformances and NCRs; coordinate audits.
• Identify and mitigate quality risks through pre-activity meetings.
• Review plans to ensure quality activities are included.
• Coordinate third-party testing and inspections.
• Train project teams on applicable QMS processes.
• Report KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
