Job summary

Black & Veatch Corporation in Overland Park, KS is seeking a Project Procurement Manager to manage procurement for proposals and projects. You will lead procurement activities, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery of equipment, services, and construction contracts.

The role requires a minimum of seven years of relevant experience, strong analytical and budgeting skills, and the ability to coordinate across teams. Flexible, hybrid work options may be available after the initial period.

Responsibilities

  • Purchases assigned equipment, construction, and service contracts for projects following established policies and procedures
  • Assists in project setup of procurement related activities
  • Executes and manages the procurement process on assigned contracts including bid list preparation, solicitation of quotes, and evaluating, negotiating and awarding of contracts
  • Leads negotiations for assigned procurements and/or construction contracts
  • Collaborates to resolve complex claims or other contract issues
  • Ensures contract documents are issued correctly and on schedule
  • Assists with development and monitoring of project budgets and schedules
  • Monitors project procurement activities and reports status
  • May develop presentations to clients and joint venture partners
  • May coordinate budgetary pricing to support estimating/proposals
  • List possible positions receiving direction: Procurement Representative, Procurement Administrator, Expediter

The Opportunity

As the Project Procurement Manager, you will have the opportunity to:



  • Perform assigned procurement activities for a proposal(s) or project(s)

  • Lead others with procurement responsibilities while requiring minimal supervision


Key Responsibilities


  • Purchases assigned equipment, construction, and service contracts for projects following established policies and procedures

  • Assists in project setup of procurement related activities

  • Executes and manages the procurement process on assigned contracts including bid list preparation, solicitation of quotes, and evaluating, negotiating and awarding of contracts

  • Leads negotiations for assigned procurements and/or construction contracts

  • Collaborates to resolve complex claims or other contract issues

  • Ensures contract documents are issued correctly and on schedule

  • Assists with the development and monitoring of project budgets and schedules (man‑hours, cost, procurement milestone durations)

  • Assists with the establishment and/or monitoring of procurement goals

  • Monitors project procurement activities and reports status

  • May develop, create and lead presentations to internal and external client and joint venture partners

  • May be responsible for soliciting budgetary pricing for equipment, material, or labor to support estimating/proposal efforts for a project or projects

  • May also lead and coordinate the entire budgetary pricing effort on a project or projects

  • Files appropriate documents and follows filing rules

  • Acts in capacity of a \"lead person\"

  • Does not have management responsibility for the professionals to whom they provide work direction

Preferred Qualifications


  • BA or BS degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Technical / Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred

  • Years of relevant experience can substitute for a degree

Minimum Qualifications
