    A DAY IN THE LIFE

    The Project or Senior Air Quality Engineer/Scientist will be responsible for ensuring that technical projects are completed in accordance with regulatory and professional standards, on schedule and within budget. This position will work under the direction of an associate Engineer or District Manager and will oversee staff engineers or scientists assigned to projects. The project manager may also be responsible for implementing department programs or initiatives. This position will directly interact with clients and regulators and would require supervision of project team members.

    Work will be conducted at the Montrose Santa Ana office but will also require some client site visits. The following key areas of focus may be incorporated onto the job:

    As a key member of the team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:

    • Air Quality permitting, analysis and compliance management – majority of work
    • Greenhouse Gas Verification
    • Stormwater compliance management and reporting
    • Hazardous materials compliance management and reporting
    • Calculate / compile environmental data based upon reference values or client operating data in accordance with established protocol and operating procedures.
    • Draft technical reports in support of permit applications, regulatory reporting requirements or regulatory interpretations.
    • Conduct field inspections of client operations to ensure compliance with permits and regulations.
    • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
    • Exercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.
    • Participate in the company’s continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
    • Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attend professional workshops.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

    To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or Environmental Studies from an accredited four-year college or university
    • 5+ years of related experience
    • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Knowledge of computer aided software (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, air modeling assessment programs, etc.).
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to present to supervisors.
    • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Work environment will vary greatly depending on nature of assigned tasks.
    • The position may involve local travel as needed.
