The University of Georgia is seeking a Project Nest Phlebotomist to collect and process blood samples in our VPR-Center for Family Research lab. You will ensure proper labeling and biosafety adherence while supporting on-site measurements and data entry.

Responsibilities include performing blood draws (afternoons/early evenings), centrifuging samples, preparing aliquots, labeling, documenting, and attending training sessions on study protocols and human subjects requirements.

Position Summary

The primary responsibility of the Phlebotomist is collecting and processing blood samples (e.g., centrifuging in the lab, performing aliquots on-site) as well as proper labeling and adherence to biosafety procedures. Phlebotomist may be asked to collect other physical measurements, such as blood pressure, height, weight, and hip/waist measures. Duties may include recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, and drawing blood. Ensures compliance with applicable policies and regulations.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

• Certification as a phlebotomist (e.g., completion of phlebotomy training)
• Demonstrated proficiency in successful blood collection, including with difficult veins.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to implement procedures in compliance with research protocols.

Physical Demands

• Lift, carry, and transport phlebotomy supplies (up to 10lbs)

Duties / Responsibilities

Conduct research phlebotomies in lab setting.

• Perform blood draws (visits typically take place in the afternoons/early evenings)

• Attend training and periodic project meetings.
• Complete mandatory online trainings (Human Subjects/CITI, Blood Safety, UGA required trainings)
