Job summary

Pennoni is seeking a Project Engineer to contribute to municipal projects from our West Chester, PA office on a full-time, direct basis. The role focuses on subdivision reviews, road rehab, SWM/MS4, and capital improvements, with design and permitting duties throughout PA.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in engineering, a Civil/Environmental background, and is prepared to obtain a PA PE license within six months. Collaboration and mentoring of staff are important aspects of the position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• 8+ years of professional engineering experience, infrastructure/utility projects preferred.
• PA PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months of start date.

Pennoni is hiring! In particular, we are looking for a Project Engineer to contribute to our municipal projects on a full-time, direct basis at our office in West Chester, PA.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Work on a variety of projects; this includes municipal engineering for Pennsylvania municipalities (including subdivision & land development reviews, road rehabilitation, stormwater management (SWM) / MS4, capital improvements, grant writing, and attendance at public meetings).
• Preparation of engineering reports.
• Work on project design and permitting.
• Review applications before planning, zoning, and/or land-use boards.
• Coordinate master planning-related tasks.
• Provide mentorship to less-experienced staff members.
• Perform (outdoor) construction inspection work, when needed.
• Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.

Basic Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in an Engineering-oriented discipline (preferably Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering).
• 8+ years of professional experience working in Engineering, preferably with infrastructure / utility projects.
• PE license in PA (we will consider candidates who are able to successfully obtain their PE within 6 months of their start date).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Management and/or Project Management experience; proven ability to manage multi-discipline projects is preferred.
• Experience working on infrastructure / stormwater projects.
• Experience working on design and permitting activities.
• Experience working with water resources (such as stream and waterway restoration) is a plus!
• Proficiency with engineering tools (e.g.: CADD, GIS, analytical programs, etc.); experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and ArcGIS / ArcInfo is preferred.
• Experience H&H tools (e.g.: HydroCAD, InfoSWWM, OpenFlows WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, & SewerGEMS) is a plus!
• Proficiency on all standard Microsoft Office software applications (especially Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Proven ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision while displaying a positive attitude.
• Excellent organizational skills, especially with a proven ability to work in a self-motivated manner while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal & written); technical writing skills are strongly preferred!
