Overview

Brown and Caldwell is seeking an Associate Project Manager to join our New England Municipal Services team. This full-time role contributes to project delivery and client service teams in planning, evaluation, design, permitting and providing construction support for Drinking Water, Wastewater and/or Water Resources projects. The position targets Civil, Mechanical or Environmental Engineers with a PE license to partner with Northeast Area leaders and provide project oversight and engineering mentorship related to water and wastewater, stormwater conveyance, or related work.

Location: Candidates must live in New England but may work remotely. Travel is approximately 25% of the time to client sites within the New England region.

Responsibilities
  • Project team leadership: set direction, establish clear objectives, decision processes, schedules and budgets; communicate effectively for standups, technical decisions and client interactions; support team motivation and resolve conflicts; establish trust; create a safe environment for ideas; embrace diversity; develop team members.
  • Execution of project delivery requirements: define scopes of work with clear assumptions; develop and maintain schedules; assist with budgets and cost control; implement quality management plans; manage change and risks; monitor project performance against scope, schedule, budget and quality.
  • Delivery of project and business performance metrics: support attainment of goals, monitor profitability via earned value, and assist with invoicing and revenue forecasting.
  • Client service and engagement: build effective client relationships, collaborate with client service managers and project teams, monitor client satisfaction and critical success factors.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, related Engineering or Science field.
  • Experience with planning, evaluating, designing, permitting or providing construction support for water-related projects (e.g., advanced water/wastewater treatment, biosolids, pumping stations, pipelines, integrated water resources) for municipal clients.
  • 4–8 years of Project Management experience with competency in developing and monitoring simple project schedules and budgets.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in standard computer programs (MS Word, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and in schedule development using MS Project or similar tools.
  • Ability to travel regionally throughout New England (~25%).
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS and/or MBA degree in Civil, Environmental, related Engineering or Science field.
  • PE or equivalent licensing or ability to obtain within 6 months; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
  • Previous supervisory or mentoring experience.
Salary and Location

The anticipated starting pay range is based on location and experience. Location options include:

  • Location A: $97,000 – 132,000
  • Location B: $106,000 – 145,000
  • Location C: $116,000 – 158,000
