Jacobs is seeking a Project Manager with strong civil engineering and water/wastewater design experience in the Virginia region. You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, perform analyses, and ensure designs meet standards while coordinating with clients and internal groups.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary teams on wastewater and drinking water design projects.
• Perform preliminary engineering analyses and option assessments.
• Plan and design projects following standards and using design software.
• Evaluate and improve standard techniques to meet project goals.
• Prepare technical reports and input for investigations or solutions.
• Guide drawings and specifications, coordinating with staff and QA/QC.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and offices; review others’ work.
• Attend project meetings and interface with clients.
• Mentor junior staff and participate in external professional activities.
• Possibly supervise project engineers as task managers or PMs.

Here’s What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead, collaborate, and work with a multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of wastewater and drinking water design projects.
• Conduct preliminary engineering by analyzing data, performing calculations, and evaluating options to develop the best solution and make recommendation.
• Plan and design projects, following company, construction, and government standards, using design software, and drawing resources.
• Autonomously evaluate and improve the selection and/or modification of standard techniques, procedures, criteria, and systems to efficiently meet project goals.
• Technical writing, reviewing, and providing clear, concise input to investigations, memorandums, or solutions reports.
• Lead a team to prepare drawings and specifications as well as changes to drawings based on engineering staff and supervisor markups, edits, QA/QC comments and/or suggestions.
• Communicate and coordinate information with other engineering disciplines and company offices.
• Review work performed by others for adequacy on completion.
• Attend project meetings, coordinate work with project team members, supervisor/client.
• Interface directly with our clients.
• Mentor and support junior staff in the local and regional water group.
• Participate in professional organizations for marketing, industry recognition, networking, and building the Jacobs brand.
• Position may include supervision of one or more project engineers as a task manager on a large project, or as a project manager of small projects.

Here’s what you’ll need

• 5+ years of progressive engineering and project management experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Water Resources, or Environmental Engineering
• PE license in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or have the ability to obtain within six months of hire
• Demonstrated understanding of one or all of the following drinking water treatment, wastewater treatment, master planning, conveyance and storage, and/or treatment processes and technologies.
• Ability to efficiently utilize time in executing assigned tasks accurately and within schedule
• Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
• Analytical and technical problem-solving skills
• Self-motivation, team-oriented work practices, top-notch organizational skills, and the ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• This position is based in Hampton Roads, VA. To be eligible, candidates must be able regularly attend meetings and perform field activities in the Hampton Roads region.

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Master’s degree in Civil, Water Resources, or Environmental Engineering
• Project or task management experience
• Academic or professional background in drinking water and/or wastewater processes preferred
• Experience in serving various clients involving a wide variety of fields including wastewater, stormwater, and site civil

The base salary range for this position is $100,000.00 to $125,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
