Job description

With a strong, diverse, and exciting backlog of municipal engineering assignments, RK&K is seeking self-motivated and highly collaborative Project Managers to lead various municipal water/wastewater infrastructure projects. These include feasibility studies, engineering design, preparation of construction documents, and construction management. As a Project Manager in our Water/Wastewater group, you will have the opportunity to deliver complex projects and expand our municipal client base in the Hampton Roads and Mid-Atlantic regions, from our offices in Newport News, Virginia Beach, Raleigh, and Charlotte.

Essential Functions
  1. Develop project deliverables, coordinating engineering disciplines within a highly collaborative team environment.
  2. Solve complex problems, provide technical evaluations, and assess costs and benefits of alternative solutions for water/wastewater clients.
  3. Mentor and develop less experienced engineering professionals, fostering growth and team building.
  4. Manage existing and potential water/wastewater facility projects.
  5. Manage and deliver municipal projects such as conveyance, sewage collection, stormwater management, and water rehabilitation projects.
  6. Negotiate and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  7. Utilize internal systems for project management, quality control, and quality assurance.
  8. Interface with clients, government agencies, and subconsultants to pursue and execute projects.
  9. Identify and create new project opportunities through networking with potential clients.
  10. Support marketing efforts and pursue new work leads focused on municipal water/wastewater clients.
Required Skills and Experience
  1. Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or related field.
  2. Minimum of eight years of relevant consulting engineering experience in municipal water/wastewater, with responsibilities including project delivery and business development.
  3. Existing relationships with municipal or private clients or the ability to develop them.
  4. Creative problem-solving skills in civil engineering.
  5. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  1. Advanced degree in civil or environmental engineering or related field.
  2. Project Management Professional Certification.
  3. Professional Engineering (P.E.) registration.
  4. Proficiency in AutoCAD and BIM.
