WATER PRACTICE

Michael Baker International's Water Group provides innovative consulting, planning, and engineering solutions for the entire water cycle. We offer a full range of professional services from scientific analysis, conceptual design, to construction support. Our focus is on water resource protection and management at the watershed level, including urban and agricultural water movement, streams, lakes, reservoirs, water distribution, wastewater collection, and treatment plants.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Our Project Manager will support public and private water/wastewater clients in San Diego with challenging projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of completing technically sound and profitable projects and will join a growing team of engineers, designers, and drafters. This role offers growth and leadership opportunities in consulting for municipal and private clients, leveraging our strong corporate reputation. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing water-related projects such as master plans, hydraulic modeling, pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, wells, lift stations, and treatment facilities.
  • Participating in project planning, design, calculations, presentations, and overall development.
  • Interacting with clients and positioning for upcoming projects.
  • Leading business development activities, including networking, proposals, and fee strategies.
  • Engaging with industry organizations like ASCE, APWA, WEF, CWEA, and AWWA.
  • Participating in the water/wastewater group and collaborating with the larger team.
  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring staff.
  • Managing project finances, invoicing, and reporting.
  • Overseeing design calculations, drawings, and specifications for pipelines and pumping stations.
  • Leading technical evaluations for planning and design.
  • Preparing reports, drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Supporting technical marketing and procurement efforts.
  • Coordinating effectively with multidisciplinary team members.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field; advanced education preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in design and calculations for pipelines, pump stations, wastewater treatment, and reservoirs.
  • Motivated self-starter interested in diverse projects.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • PE registration in California; additional states and registrations are a plus.
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling of water, sewer, and stormwater systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
COMPENSATION

The salary range is $120,000 - $150,000, depending on experience and expertise.
