Job summary

Slayden Constructors Inc. is seeking experienced Project Managers across Oregon to lead water and wastewater treatment plant construction projects for municipal and industrial clients.

The PMs will guide on-site teams, manage budgets, and ensure timely delivery of multi-million dollar projects across Medford, Eugene, and Portland areas. Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • 7–10 years of construction, design, finance, and management experience on heavy civil or industrial construction projects.
  • 3–5 years of experience on water or wastewater treatment plant projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize team and project performance.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and maintain liaison with prime client and A/E contacts to facilitate preconstruction and construction activities.
  • Monitor and control construction through on-site management to ensure projects are built on schedule and within budget; investigate issues and implement corrective measures.
  • Represent the Company in project meetings and assist in labor negotiations, strategy meetings, and other project-related activities.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts to protect the Company’s interests while maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical support to project engineers, field engineers, and superintendents.
  • Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, clients, engineers, and other stakeholders to support successful project execution.

Slayden Constructors Inc. (SCI), a wholly owned subsidiary of MWH Constructors, Inc., is seeking experienced Project Managers throughout Oregon to support and lead critical water and wastewater treatment plant construction projects for municipal and industrial clients.
As Slayden continues to expand its project portfolio across Oregon, we are looking for experienced construction professionals statewide, with a particular focus on the Medford, Eugene, and Portland areas. Our Project Managers play a key leadership role in delivering complex heavy civil and water infrastructure projects that directly impact the communities we serve.
Projects may utilize integrated project delivery methods such as CM-at-Risk or Design-Build, as well as traditional Design-Bid-Build, and range in size from $20 million to $200 million.

Essential Functions
  • Initiate and maintain liaison with prime client and A/E contacts to facilitate preconstruction and construction activities.
  • Monitor and control construction through administrative direction of on‑site construction managers and superintendents to ensure projects are built on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
  • Represent the Company in project meetings and assist in labor negotiations, strategy meetings, and other project‑related activities.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts, including fee payment, rental equipment, income, expenses, and other project costs, to protect the Company’s interests while maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Work jointly with other members of the project team to complete the Slayden Constructors Management Administration Plan prior to initiating fieldwork. Utilize company planning guidelines and tools throughout the duration of the project.
  • Ensure direct‑reporting employees follow safe work practices and company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work safely.
  • Work in a manner that ensures personal safety and the safety of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical support to project engineers, field engineers, and superintendents.
  • Manage the procurement of subcontractors and materials through Purchase Agreements and Subcontracts.
  • Support Change Management, Cost Estimating, Revenue and Cost Forecasting, and Scheduling.
  • Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, clients, engineers, and other stakeholders to support successful project execution.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed by the Operations Director.
Basic Qualifications
  • 4-year degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of experience, training, and education.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of construction, design, finance, and management experience/knowledge on heavy civil or industrial construction projects.
  • 3–5 years of experience working on water or wastewater treatment plant projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize team and project performance.
  • Thorough understanding of construction industry practices, processes, standards, and their impact on project activities.
  • Strong understanding of project financial management, cost controls, forecasting, scheduling, subcontractor management, and change management.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, leadership, and influence.
  • Strong business orientation with demonstrated experience, sound judgment, and decision‑making abilities.
  • Ability to effectively lead and collaborate with project engineers, field engineers, superintendents, subcontractors, clients, and A/E partners.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Safety‑oriented with OSHA training.
  • Specialized experience and expertise with water and wastewater treatment plant construction.
  • Experience working for a general contractor or heavy civil construction contractor.
  • Experience delivering projects utilizing CM‑at‑Risk, Design‑Build, and/or Design‑Bid‑Build delivery methods.
  • Experience managing complex heavy civil or water/wastewater construction projects ranging from approximately $20 million to $200 million.
  • Experience with self‑perform construction activities, including civil/site work, structural concrete, underground utilities, process piping, and/or mechanical systems.
