Job summary

Metric Geo is seeking a Project Manager to lead a water and wastewater project in Napa, Northern California, with potential work across Northern California including Concord and the wider Bay Area.

You will own project delivery, coordinating with superintendents, engineers and the client to manage safety, quality, cost and schedule, while mentoring junior staff and ensuring contracts and specifications are met.

Qualifications

• Proven Project Manager experience with heavy civil contractor environments.
• Experience delivering water or wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, or similar infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of self-performed construction including concrete, earthworks, underground utilities and process piping.

Responsibilities

• Manage water and wastewater construction projects from planning and procurement through completion and closeout.
• Lead project teams and coordinate self-performed work, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Own project budgets, cost forecasting, financial reporting and change management.
• Develop and monitor schedules with the Superintendent, addressing risks to keep work on track.
• Manage client and engineer relationships, providing clear updates and resolving issues.
• Oversee procurement, subcontracts and long-lead equipment packages.
• Review RFIs, submittals, drawings and specs to resolve scope and constructability issues.
• Ensure work meets contractual requirements and safety standards.
• Mentor Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers.

Northern California | Initial Project in Napa

Metric has been retained by an established heavy civil contractor to recruit a Project Manager for its water and wastewater team in Northern California.

The initial focus will be a project in Napa, with further opportunities across Northern California, including Concord and the wider Bay Area.

You will take ownership of project delivery, working closely with Superintendents, engineers and the client to manage safety, quality, cost and schedule.

The Role

• Manage water and wastewater construction projects from planning and procurement through completion and closeout.
• Lead project teams and coordinate self-performed work, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Own project budgets, cost forecasting, financial reporting and change management.
• Develop and monitor schedules alongside the Superintendent, addressing risks and keeping work on track.
• Manage client and engineer relationships, providing clear updates and resolving project issues.

• Ensure work meets contractual requirements, quality standards and company safety expectations.

Your Background

• Proven Project Manager experience with a heavy civil general contractor.
• Experience delivering water or wastewater treatment plants, pump stations or comparable process infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of self-performed construction, including concrete, earthwork, underground utilities and process piping.
• Experience managing project financials, schedules, contracts and change orders.
• Ability to lead field and office teams and build strong client relationships.
• Able to support an initial project in Napa and subsequent projects across Northern California.
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline preferred; equivalent experience considered.
