Summary

We are seeking a motivated self-starting Project Manager to support our Water/Wastewater Practice in our Illinois office! The Water/Wastewater practice covers a broad array of work, including moving projects from conceptual planning through design, bidding, permitting, and construction. Some projects for Water include raw water supply (including well and surface water intakes), pumping, treatment, storage and distribution. Wastewater projects include wastewater treatment plant studies and design, collection system assessments and rehabilitation, pump/lift stations, and process/mechanical piping systems. The Project Manager will assist in the growth of client relations, as well as management of junior team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project Management Duties

  1. Prepares scopes of services, detailed project budget, and contract.
  2. Is responsible for completing each project or assigned task on time and on budget. Regularly monitors project schedules and budgets throughout the project life. Responsible for leading formal Project Reviews for projects.
  3. Assigns and manages tasks, schedules, and budgets to project team members (including any sub-contractors). Coordinates project scheduling and conducts “kick-off” and interim project status meeting with the project team.
  4. Provides feedback and mentorship of the performance of project team members through completion of Project Staff Reviews.
  5. Ensures the accuracy of completed tasks through the use of established HR Green QA/QC processes established for each project.
  6. Monitors and pro-actively identifies or corrects technical, schedule or financial issues through effective communication with staff.
  7. Assists the Client in bidding or contractor selection.
  8. Monitors construction and supervises field personnel assigned to a task, data collection or a specific project.
  9. Actively manages all aspects of construction administration of projects.
  10. Responsible for coordinating the timely invoicing and collection of fees.
  11. Revenue managed goals may be established based on experience.

Technical Project Delivery

  1. Uses professional judgment to independently complete engineering tasks within federal, state and local established criteria.
  2. Technically responsible for major design tasks that meet the needs of internal and external customers.
  3. Signs and seals engineering documents as an authorized representative of the company.
  4. Independently communicates on technical matters with the client.

Business Development

  1. Cross markets other firm services as appropriate to clients. Participates in professional society activities related to water and wastewater professionals.
  2. Provides input into the creation of marketing plans, and maintains regular and accurate record of marketing activities with individual clients.
  3. Identifies project opportunities and provides input to the Go/No Go decision. Participates in the preparation of engineering services proposals, including the interviews, calculation/estimation of time schedules, and costs of the proposed work.
  4. Sales goals may be established based on experience.

Education and Experience

  1. Must have a Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering. A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  2. Must have 10+ or more years of relevant water/wastewater engineering experience.
  3. The successful candidate must market water/wastewater services to new and existing clients, manage wastewater design and construction projects (concept and final design), delegate work and coach staff.
  4. Previous water/wastewater design experience required.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

Must possess a current, valid Professional Engineer (P.E.) license and have the ability to obtain licensure in one or more other states in which HR Green conducts business. The employee must be capable of driving/operating a motor vehicle for company business, and maintain a valid driver’s license in the state of residence.

Compensation Range

$108,950.00 - $171,700.00

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Illinois Salary Transparency amendment to the Equal Pay Act of 2003. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, skills, prior work experience, competencies, and geographic work location. The total annual compensation package may consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate, after a qualifying period, in our performance and discretionary incentive bonus program(s).
