Scope of Position

Project Manager I: Managesconstruction projects, various delivery types, from project assignment through completion. Accountable for all construction activities on assigned project(s). Some skill at performing every project management competency withproficiencyin many.

Job Responsibilities
  • Field Management, Safety, and Quality: Reviews and monitors project progress, quality, safety, and compliance with project specifications, environmental requirements, and applicable water/wastewater regulations. Works with Superintendent to ensure the project is being completed per all project requirements, including testing, commissioning, start-up, and operational readiness where applicable.
  • Document Control: Maintains submittal control for water/wastewater-specific equipment and materials, including process equipment, pumps, piping, valves, electrical systems, instrumentation, controls, and treatment components. Manages as-builts and redline drawings in the field to support final turnover and Owner operations and maintenance requirements.
  • Scheduling: Plans, sequences, and schedules the project with input from the superintendent and subcontractors, taking into account plant operations, shutdowns, tie-ins, phased construction, permitting requirements, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Procurement and Commitments: Responsible for establishing the procurement strategy for long-lead and specialized water/wastewater equipment and materials, including process mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls, pumps, treatment equipment, piping, and valves.
  • Design Coordination: Monitors the progress of design documents and participates in design review meetings, providing input regarding constructability, sequencing around active facilities, operational impacts, scope, and cost changes. Coordinates requirements of governing authorities, utilities, and regulatory agencies for permits, inspections, testing, and final approval.
  • Project Lifecycle Management: Effectively manages project start-up and close-out tasks, including commissioning, testing, training, turnover documentation, operations and maintenance manuals, warranties, and coordination with Owner operations personnel.
  • Client Relations: Manages client relations, including coordination with municipal clients, utility representatives, plant operations teams, engineers, and other project stakeholders as needed.
  • Travel as required.
  • Other duties which may be assigned as needed.
  • Supervises others.
Education & Years of Experience

Project Manager I:Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent is preferred plus three years minimum in construction management.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of estimating, construction methods, engineering, equipment and technology; water/wastewater, municipal utility, heavy civil, or industrial process construction experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with coordination of civil, mechanical, electrical, process, and controls scopes preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of safety procedures.
  • Ability to travel per project requirements

EnvironmentalFactors and Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, team members may be required to visit alternate locations and therefore must have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to do so. This position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The team member is frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
