Job summary

RK Industries, LLC is seeking a Project Manager to plan, coordinate, and deliver specialty water and mechanical construction projects in the Denver area. You will lead project teams, manage budgets, schedules, procurement, and safety compliance to ensure on-time, on-budget turnover to owners.

The role requires 5–6 years of relevant experience and a related degree. You will interface with clients, engineers, and subcontractors to secure contracts, manage changes, and optimize labor productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise day-to-day operations of project staff and field teams on assigned projects, accounts, and service work.
  • Manage assigned specialty water, wastewater, treatment plant, and hydronic system projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Review project scope, contract requirements, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Ensure customer contract agreements are secured, reviewed, processed, and executed.
  • Participate in Sales-to-Operations and preconstruction turnover meetings to confirm scope, budget, schedule, procurement needs, and risks.
  • Develop, review, finalize, and distribute project budgets; establish and maintain schedules, procurement plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and update project schedules throughout execution.
  • Coordinate procurement of materials and equipment with the purchasing agent; buyout planning to meet schedule dates and budgeted costs.
  • Oversee construction activities involving hydronic and process mechanical systems, piping, pump stations, instrumentation and controls, SCADA, and dosing systems.
  • Ensure compliance with contract documents, permitting, safety, and quality control; obtain and post permits as required.
  • Oversee project administration and documentation; ensure submittals are reviewed, approved, and tracked.
  • Negotiate, prepare, process, and execute subcontract agreements; manage subcontractor coordination and owner communications.
  • Price, negotiate, and process change orders; document scope and cost changes; support claims avoidance.
  • Ensure staffing of field forces and monitor labor productivity; review loading and performance.
  • Oversee use of tools and rental equipment; return unused equipment promptly.
  • Manage overall financial performance through cost control, forecasting, and earned value reporting as applicable.
  • Develop and obtain approval of billing schedules; submit monthly contract valuations on time.
  • Maintain cash flow and collect progress billings and retention receivables by due dates.
  • Review and process subcontractor and supplier invoices.
  • Facilitate regular project meetings and communicate status, risks, and mitigation plans.

Job description

Position Summary:

Plan, coordinate, and successfully deliver specialty water and mechanical construction projects, including work at data centers, water treatment plants, wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, reclaimed water systems, industrial water treatment facilities, and hydronic systems. Ensure project goals are achieved safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality and regulatory requirements. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, engineers, subcontractors, and project teams. Manage budgeting, scheduling, contracts, buyout, documentation, meetings, billings, change conditions, labor productivity, cost control, and project closeout.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage and supervise day-to-day operations of project staff and field teams on assigned projects, accounts, and service work.
  • Manage assigned specialty water, wastewater, treatment plant, and hydronic system projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Review and thoroughly understand project scope, contract requirements, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Ensure customer contract agreements are secured, reviewed, processed, and executed.
  • Participate in Sales-to-Operations and preconstruction turnover meetings for assigned projects to confirm scope, budget, schedule, procurement needs, and project risks.
  • Develop, review, finalize, and distribute project budgets. Establish and maintain project schedules, procurement plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and update project schedules throughout execution.
  • Coordinate procurement of materials and equipment with the purchasing agent, including buyout planning to meet or improve established schedule dates and budgeted costs.
  • Oversee construction activities involving hydronic and process mechanical systems, treatment equipment, process piping, pipelines, pump stations, instrumentation and controls, SCADA, and chemical feed and dosing systems.
  • Ensure project work complies with contract documents, project specifications, applicable permitting and regulatory requirements, safety standards, and quality control procedures. Ensure required permits and licenses are obtained and posted.
  • Initiate, review, and oversee project administration and documentation to protect the interests of RK Water and its client. Ensure required submittals are reviewed, processed, approved, and tracked in maintained submittal logs.
  • Negotiate, prepare, process, and execute subcontract agreements. Manage contract administration, subcontractor coordination, and owner communications.
  • Price, negotiate, and process change conditions and change orders. Document changes to project scope, cost, and schedule while supporting claims avoidance.
  • Ensure projects are appropriately staffed with field forces, including review, updating, and approval of labor resource loading. Monitor labor productivity and analyze performance.
  • Oversee the use of tools and rental equipment on assigned projects. Ensure equipment that is no longer required or being used is returned promptly.
  • Manage the overall financial performance of assigned projects through ongoing cost control, forecasting, and financial performance monitoring, including earned-value reporting as applicable.
  • Develop, submit, and obtain approval of the billing schedule of values.
  • Prepare and submit accurate monthly contract valuations on time.
  • Maintain an overbilled cash position, proactively request retention releases and payments, and collect progress billings and retention receivables on or before their due dates.
  • Review, approve, and process subcontractor and supplier invoices.
  • Facilitate regular project meetings with relevant stakeholders.
  • Communicate project status, risks, cost and schedule impacts, and mitigation plans to project stakeholders.
  • Support commissioning, startup, operator training, system testing, and successful turnover of completed systems and facilities to owners and end users.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships while identifying opportunities for additional work and long-term partnerships.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Prompt, punctual, and regular attendance during core business hours, in an office environment, currently located in the 80 E 62nd Ave area of Denver, including a reliable means of transport to and from work.Ability to occasionally travel between corporate offices and jobsites within the Denver Metro Area, during work hours.

Qualifications:
  • 5–6 years of relevant project or construction experience; a degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of process mechanical piping systems, building on the knowledge of an Assistant Project Manager.
  • Good knowledge of project budgeting, scheduling, procurement, cost control, forecasting, and labor productivity.
  • Knowledge of contract administration, change orders, submittals, progress billing, and project closeout; proficiency with project management and scheduling software.
