Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, a leading engineering firm, seeks an experienced Project Manager to deliver water and wastewater design and management projects in Ohio. You will drive scope, schedule, budgets, and client communications while coordinating with senior staff and stakeholders.

Candidates must hold a PE license and a Bachelor's degree from an ABET‑accredited engineering program, with 10+ years in water/wastewater project design.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of water/wastewater project design and management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage project scope, schedule, and budgets.
  • Create and maintain project management plans and schedules.
  • Coordinate and manage subconsultants and staff.
  • Lead client presentations and support marketing proposals.
  • Mentor and coach project team with regular check-ins.
  • Oversee technical resources and ensure project quality plans.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary project teams and drive successful delivery.

Job description

Position Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering all project objectives for assigned projects including scope, schedule and budget.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Monitors schedules, budgets, accounts receivable and manpower requirements and prepares invoices.
  • Develop Project Management plans for assigned projects.
  • Establish project pricing and budgets.
  • Create and maintain project schedules.
  • Develop and maintain project specific quality plans.
  • Develop and coordinate project scope.
  • Manage subconsultants.
  • Participate in client presentations.
  • Oversee and manage assigned staff working on project.
  • Manage all technical resources on the project team.
  • Develop extra work order requests and open‑end contract task proposals.
  • Coordinate and assist Section Heads, Office Managers, and Practice Leaders with marketing proposals.
  • Providing coaching and mentorship to the project team through one‑on‑one check‑in meetings and various project debriefs to acknowledge achievements, identify areas for improvement, and share lessons learned.
  • Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meeting, coaching) that supports the growth and development of teams.

Required Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited engineering program.
  • Professional Engineer License.
  • 10+ years' experience in Water/Wastewater project design and management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong Communication Skills.
  • Strong Presentation Skills.
Preferred Experience
  • CAPM or PMP.
  • Experience working with local clients at the county and state level.
  • Project management and business development experience.
  • Experience with multiple project delivery methods (i.e., Design‑Bid‑Build, Design‑Build, P3).
  • Experience managing multidiscipline project teams.
Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
